Stayed in Room 155 - was very clean and I have stayed multiple times at the Solent Hotel & Spa before... It's a nice place to stay with multiple options in the evenings to cater for food and so on. Breakfast is good quality food, even if a bit clunky and there is a decent vibe about the place. Room 155 is however, in between the 2 nearest WIFI antennae and the reception ranges from full just behind the room door to poor at the desk. Poor is okay for simple internet page surfing (eBay) but if you want to stream from the iPlayer then it doesn't work well

I'd start by saying I like the Solent Hotel, but there's a but :) Some of the rooms are old and poorly laid out - this week i had room 311 - there are no plugs either side of the bed for charging technology and the wardrobe is small and already full of robes / ironing board and bulky hangers - all of which needed removing to hang my clothes. The toilet did not flush properly and when i checked out was blocked, i think largely due to the age of the bits more than anything else. There are much better rooms than this and i hope i have one next week. Breakfast was also extremely clunky and it took the best part of 50 mins this morning even though there was less than 10 people in there when i was - other people were served their food before me - even though they arrived 10 minutes later (and they had full breakfasts) whereas i had toast and some bacon, which was brought out late and wrong. I like the hotel but it doesn't always show up like it should due to aged rooms and clunky service - i stayed 3 nights btw and spent nearly £600 - not reflected in what i feel i received on this occasion

Fantastic hotel, staff very miserable and quite rude especially the bar staff. Breakfast was a shambles. A coffee machine would relieve so much stress on the staff. Getting coffee was like pulling teeth.

Great place to stay. The only issue that we have is that the room was freezing at the the time that we arrive. Takes a while to warm up. They have a dinner but quote expense and not a gre we et quality. Otherwise was a great spa and swimming pool. The Hot tub was a great.

The pool area closed to early we was told to check in at 15:00,pm but the spa close at 16:00pm so after changing only had 20 min in the hot tub.

I love this hotel, it’s my third stay and I look forward to staying again. This was for a work conference, great staff really make for a pleasurable visit. Great food, and the rooms are excellent value. Look forward to having enough time to try the spa!

Cold in the hotel from the reception to the rooms. Other reception areas did not appear to have any heat! Coffee machine in the room was jammed, presumably not been checked. No milk in the machines in the morning. The hotel appeared “tired” and need of updating. The staff were very pleasant and the shower was hot. Unfortunately I could not recommend the hotel: there are many others, much cheaper, locally.

Nice comfy bed
Nice four poster bed, room very poorly lit. Nice comfy bed, couple of chairs and a desk. Tv with free view. Tea and coffee making facilities with milk and water down the corridor and also a fridge in the room. Bathroom nice and bright with a shower over bath, didn’t use it though.

Lovely Hotel
This is a lovely hotel, very pleasant surroundings, a little pricey and currently showing it's age but still a nice place to stay. Restaurant is a touch expensive but food is great. Disappointed that they now charge for using the facilities which used to be included in the price of the room. Does have good facilities for EV charging.

Not a very relaxing spa experience with a lot of children in the pool/spa area, shouting, playing ball games, jumping and splashing. Jacuzzi and changing rooms very nice, preferred using the changing rooms showers etc then bathroom in room. Room was average, bathroom needs updating, dirty/stained shower curtain. Bed very comfortable and good size room. All food and drinks were very nice in particular breakfast. Staff and service could be better, staff were not very attentive, left for a long time without drinks or service. Some items not on the menu at dinner. Overall very average stay possibly not worth the money and especially having to pay £10 per person to use the spa facilities.

I booked a Junior Suite expecting a spacious superior room with a comfortable seating area. The first room I was offered was on the ground floor overlooking the car park with cars literally a few feet from the window. I asked for a different room and was moved to the second floor; the room was directly above the original room so had the same outlook but at least there weren't car headlights shining in every few minutes. The suite itself felt cramped; yes there was a bedroom, a separate seating area and a bathroom but the layout meant that each area felt cramped and the bathroom was tiny with a compact bath. It didn't feel like a superior room and some of the decor was a bit shabby, e.g. flaking paint and fraying curtains. The staff were helpful and they did at least offer me a room change!

Big hotel with a nice spa and pool facility. Pity they have to charge residents for access, surely it should be included in price. Suite was pleasant and clean but dated. Needs modernising. Have to walk length of hotel to collect water and milk for room which is pretty unique. Food was excellent both dinner and breakfast. Overall good.

I chose this hotel on a recommendation and due to the fact that it was conveniently located. It’s overpriced for the condition and facilities of the building. It’s relatively expensive and the room was in a significantly older condition than in the photos, eg sealant in bathroom was old and filthy, furniture was from 90s, general decor hasn’t been updated in years. Many of the lights didn’t work. It has a very 80s/90s feel which is probably when it was built. It costs extra to use the “spa” which is mostly a pool with lots of kids so not relaxing. Some facilities were out of use. In room coffee and toiletries were good, staff were generally helpful and friendly. The bed was comfortable. Didn’t eat at the restaurant or bar so can’t comment on the food. Next time, I’d stay elsewhere for half the cost and take taxis or drive to where I needed to get to.

Very noise laundry trollies under room 200
Have stayed before on a number of occasions for business and visiting family in area as we lived close by some years ago and my work office was in area. So know hotel. Wry well and lived nearby when it was being built. Hotel is usually very good, convenient, close to amenities although always felt a little expensive considering breakfast is an extra and using the pool is an extra. However, staff always good, food good and hotel has a nice ambience to make for a pleasant stay IF you can get a good deal. This time however, we had room 200 which was right over the laundry area and cobble stone passageway they roll trolleys of laundry out from 05:30 to 06:30 or close to those times and the noise of the trollies woke us up on both morning we stayed this time. The first time we thought it was a one off but then next day same very load rumbling noise of trollies on cobble stone pathway. My advice stay away from any room near 200. Also had to advise reception on leaving that the toilet pan needed bleaching or cleaning as mould over one of the water flushing holes near the front rim was not very pleasant but a good clean and bleach would sort I’m sure. Would we stay again.. yes definitely but not in room 200 or anywhere near and I’d check toilet pan for mould before using room.

Would not recommend - too many issues Furniture falling apart in bedroom - opened cupboard door it landed on floor Someone’s nail clipping on the floor Fire alarm in middle of night - when we got downstairs no staff about to provide any direction On checking out they had over charged us which took them about 10 minutes to sort out

Spa Great! But better off sleeping on the floor.
Good points and bad points to the Solent hotel and spa. Spa was lovely and service from all staff amazing and the spa facilities were great. Unfortunately we paid for a suite which set us back a fair amount to find the bed was as hard as the floor and was more comfortable just sleeping on the sofa. The room was a little dated and could have done with a deep clean as dirty hand prints all over the bathroom door. For the price of the stay I am very disappointed.
