Great location. Wonderful staff. Beautiful lobby. I was dissapointed that the carpet outside our rooms was buckled- looks like it hadn't been tightened in some time. The rooms are nicely appointed, but I found hair on my towels and in the shower (ewww!). Over it's a nice place...they just need to tighten up a bit.
Wonderful hotel just across the bridge from Washington. A little awkward to get to very clean and the staff is friendly. There are plenty of shopping and dining facilities nearby. The rooms are very clean and include a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. We spent two nights there and felt comfortable and very safe. There seems to be no issues with security.
Our stay at the Hilton Garden Inn was nothing short of enjoyable. The staff was extremely accommodating. We arrived 6 hours earlier than check in time and they immediately set us up in a room. The room was well kept and clean. First thing we did was go grab breakfast in the hotel. Very small buffet with limited options, however they do have few made to order options which were good. The gym was very small but equipment was new. When I asked for towels I received them 5 min later. I was grateful for the attentive staff. Our room was outside the conference room and it could be a bit noisy. Overall I enjoyed the stay and would stay here again if I had to. My stay was pleasant considering it was for business purposes only. However, the hotel is not in a very popular area and if you are looking for things to do this is not the place.
"This is clean simple hotel close to the bus stop"
This is a simple and clean hotel. It is also very small. There are a lot of parking spots available at the back. However, I was using public transportation while stayed there and I found that the bus stop (28A) is just half a block away when you come from West Falls Church metro station. To go back to West Falls Church metro station I jumped on the same bus at the bus stop just across the street from the hotel. It takes 5-6 minutes each way to go to or from the subway station. They have very simple but eatable breakfast.
Since I arrived to DCA early in the morning, I wanted to drop off my luggage at the hotel. I called Inns of Virginia and asked if they already had a room available. The stuff member at the reception was very nice to me and I was allowed to CHECK IN at 9:30 AM!
The Mad Fox brewery across the street is great!
Overall, there a lot of businesses in the neighborhood, but it's very quiet at night. Also, there is nothing to do after midnight.
"Average, you get all you expect from a 2 star hote"
Hotel is definitely not new and would benefit from some repairs but staff is nice. There is a shuttle to the nearest Metro station but only limited hours. Breakfast varies from day to day sometimes really poor, some days ok. Rooms are clean, AC working what elso one can expect?
The Residence Inn in Merrifield is in a great location for getting into DC via car or Metro, as well as moving around Fairfax and Falls Church. It's also just a short walk to the new Mosaic center, which is a fun area to visit with lots of shopping and dining.
The hotel was perfect for our family, as it offered a spacious 2 bdr/2 bath suite which could accommodate all of us (plus 3 TVs to allow for each of us to watch different shows!) The room was a bit dated and ragged around the edges, and the furniture a bit worn. But it gave us lots of space at an excellent price, plus the fridge and kitchen facilities Residence Inns provide.
The very best thing about this Residence Inn is the excellent free breakfast buffet. There was a large selection of items which were kept well-stocked by the staff. The quality of the cooked food was very high, and it was always hot and fresh. The food and dining area were kept spotlessly clean. I can't say enough nice things about the staff caring for the breakfast area - very helpful and attentive to every detail. This free buffet was much better than other hotel buffets which charge for the service.
The front desk staff was also helpful, and the computer to print boarding passes was easy to use and operated flawlessly (most don't!). There is also a happy hour Mon-Wed which we weren't able to visit - but it sounded fun as there was also a food truck available for food purchase - looked really fun for business travelers.
