Beautiful from the outside

Lovely grounds. Lovely building. But the rooms were left behind in the 1940's. Old fashioned, no character. The Grill: not good quality food. Overall- I expected too much!!

Not what you'd expect

Posted 17-Sep-2017
Initially we were impressed as the castle, hotel grounds, reception area, and restaurant are all very modern, well furnished and what you'd expect from a 4 star hotel. The issue is when you open your bedroom door, you get something from the 40s. Furniture dated and needing replaced, bed tiny and not comfortable, carpets need renew and then there's the toilet! Acceptable 50 years ago but for the price you pay for this hotel and the impressive grounds etc they really need to bring the bedrooms up to the same standard.

Nice hotel but would not pay normal tariff.

Pros: Staff in general
Cons: Quality of food. Response to complaint/observation
The staff were very friendly and the food was satisfactory. I did say on two occasions that our room was very cold. It was in the basement of the castle building. I would normally not be one to complain and understand that it is an old building but I did kind it strange that the window could not close and the complete disregard that was given to me by reception when I mentioned it after the first night and also when checking out.

Lovely, clean hotel, very pleasant!

Hotel was great with lovely spa and modern feel about it. I was slightly disappointed in the room as it was a bit tired looking and well used I'd imagine. Staff good and room was clean!

Nice to get away.

Pros: Everything from reception check in to checkout. The area is so peaceful and quiet.
Cons: most certainly the décor or general maintenance of the rooms and hallways should be of a better order..
Location: , Walking, Jogging, Shopping, Kelpies and last but not least the Falkirk Wheel and shopping.
Had a little dinner bed and breakfast with my two grandchildren. Swimming pool temp just perfect. Sauna and steam room too. Spa facilities available plus able to purchase top of the range skin care. Rooms could really do with some refurb/repairs. Overall some areas in the hotel need new décor, old and tired looking. This does not in anyway detract from the welcoming relaxing atmosphere in the hotel. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. The dining room is really lovely and spacious. Food is great and good size portions.
