Lovely hotel ...reception staff need more training

We had a nice stay, we booked in a family room. But it was more like just a double room with a sofa bed, hardly any room in there at all. Bit disappointed as I phoned to upgrade the day before an d they said the room was big enough for three of us.
Breakfast was always lovely and helpful staff. We ate dinner once which was great and bar staff really helpful and friendly too.
The main negative was the reception staff at check in and then again the same people when we had a few questions regarding where we could eat with a one year old. Our daughter was tired and hungry after a long drive and we really didn't want to eat in the hotel restaurant if she was going to be noisy. We asked if there was a family friendly pub/restaurant close by ish, we said we could drive etc... they wouldn't even mention one place to help us out. Within a couple of minutes leaving the hotel we realised there we loads in the local area. Also at check-in they didn't even tell us the basic information about the hotel, where we go for breakfast etc, what direction our room was in, what floor, where the lifts were etc etc. Had to ask everything. Were quite miserable and unhelpful
