Room was great and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Bit noisy and there was no phone reception upstairs - but the lady let me use her mobile downstairs!

nice clean hotel

Pros: Clean nice breakfast.
Cons: The noise!!!! maybe better double glazing also the fan in the room was very slow and didn't provide very much air flow.
Location: Location cute little village, one pub, little post office and shop and a church, friendly people.
Was on a main road so very noisy due to constant traffic thundering past.but a lovely clean room with everything you needed.

Very nice and different for a change.

We stayed as a base for a group meeting at Ugbrooke House on the Sunday. The Chinese food was excellent and the service was great too plus as a resident you get 15% discount off dinner. Best to book a table as it is very popular. There is a nice little pub opposite as the restaurant doesn't open til 6.30 and another restaurant up the road. The room was quite big if a little dated. The bed was lovely. The shower room was ok, the toilet was squeezed in beside the shower cubicle so might be a little uncomfortable for larger people. The shower worked great but the tray was quite old and chipped and the seal round the door didn't keep the water in so floor got abit wet! Plenty of coffee sachets but no decaff which is quite important for my husband luckily I always take my own. Two bottles of water which was good. Our room was Jasmine and opened onto the road so couldn't really open windows for noise but they did provide a fan which we used. Big TV which was nice. We would use it again but you do need to phone when you arrive as no-one let us in at first.

Last minute overnight stay

Warm welcome, good sized room, very clean but room needs some TLC - evidence of water damage to ceiling above bed. Bathroom clean but again very tired with the most feeble shower ever! Breakfast tasty but order was confusing - requested to place order the night before by circling choices on sheet of paper but because we requested cereal and a cooked breakfast we were given a smaller breakfast served on a side plate with bacon brought out separately???!!!!

Shame about the power cut :-S

Nice place, good value, walking distance to Powderham Castle just a shame we had a power cut so not hot shower, no kettle or TV, family room was worth the money though, clean and tidy

Excellent hotel

On arrival we were greeted warmly and shown to our room which was excellent very clean and comfortable, this is in the centre of a small village so was lovely and quiet only sounds during the night was the local owls and a lonely fox. The hotel is part of a great restaurant serving meals in super environment . Excellent food and the hostess very friendly, I will be returning it is now my hotel of choice I. South Devon.
