We stayed four nights here on the third floor. It wasn't soundproof--we heard guests coming in and out all night long, parties going on across the street, dogs barking, traffic. Between all the noise and the uncomfortable mattress and pillows, we didn't get much sleep at all during our stay. This might not matter much to folks who are used to sleeping on springy mattresses. I think we should have asked for a room at the back of the hotel on an upper floor, that probably would have helped.
The rooftop bar staff were very sweet and made sure we had wine glasses and a corkscrew when we went up to get our bottle of wine opened. Great view of Lykavittos Hill (but not the Parthenon).
No gym, pool, large lobby, or any other more luxurious amenities, but we knew this when we booked it. The rooftop bar was reasonably priced and great to relax at and play a few games of Backgammon.
It's a good place to stay if you're looking for a centrally located hotel on a shoestring budget. We booked our flights with our hotel and got a great deal.
I would not classify this as a 4 star hotel. The lobby is nice and the staff is friendly, but the rooms are just average. Room smelled like smoke, bathroom had a foul smell, no hair conditioner, shower leaked water and created a puddle outside the bath after every shower, and the TV only had 1 or 2 stations in English.
The hotel is good value and close to places of interest: opposite the National Archaeological Museum and close to the main shopping streets. The room was comfortable and the breakfast decent and varied.
There is no parking at the hotel, but free on-street parking (locals advise to avoid parking on Stournari, as your car may end up behind a barricade or hit by missiles as students battle police!). My one criticism is that hotel staff don't tell you any of this, and I was referred to a 24-hour parking place up the road (which was fine but incurred unnecessary cost).
"Nice room in a quiet location next to wooded park."
Our host, Dimitri, carried our heavy duffelbags like they weighed nothing at all down a stairway, through a locked gate to a sunny patio area where our room was. It was very tidy and clean with pictures on the walls, a small refridgerator and a coffee brewer with cups, saucers, spoons, sugar and teabags. The bathroom had a full shower and curtain although the shower fixture was different than others we had seen in Europe and hard to adjust and figure out at first. We did not yru the breakfast buffet but the menu looked extensive. We did take our dinner up to the Orion's cafeteria deck with the gorgeous view of the entire city and the Aropolice. The Orion also provided potable filtered water for drinking since the water in all the rooms and perhaps all of Athens, is not fit to drink.

The Dryades is a quality hotel in Athens that is centrally located in a quiet area yet close to the Athens city center …More
I got the private room and they were nice enough to not charge for an additional person in the room. We ended up staying for another night because we enjoyed the people's warm and positive vibes, not only the staff but also the people who stay at this hostel. I would come back again.
Students and artists reside in this bohemian area filled with low-key bars, old-fashioned cafes and down-to-earth tavernas. A hotchpotch of neoclassical buildings and modern concrete apartment blocks line its grid of busy roads and leafy pedestrian side streets. The University lies close by, and the National Archaeological Museum is a 10-minute walk away.
