My Son stayed there for four nights and I stayed there the last evening of our vacation. It was well equipped with toilets and showers and, for the most part, everyone followed the hostel rules. It is a great central location for the town of Esperanza and a great place just to relax.
Once upon a time there was a tamarind tree growing in this property . The new landlords decided to restructure the building to leave the tree inside the building. This gives a special cozy surroundings . The rooms was very well kept and clean. Nicely decorated . Clean bedding , smelling freshly done. Amenities well supplied with beach towels, snorkeling gear, beach chairs. A library room filled with books, drinks and snacks . Daily breakfast done on the spot. Friendly staff. Quiet and a great place for adults . The pool nicely kept and the hammock and garden were comfortable!
jose was an awesome host! the guest house is super cute and well maintained and made out stay in vieques super pleasant. when looking for it, go a bit north of what google maps says.. its a block to the north of that.
When we first arrived the staff made us feel very welcomed. Our room was kind of small but it was very cozy. The night we went out we left our keys at a friends house about a mile or more down the road and it was pretty late, around 3 in the morning. So we were locked out and tried to call every taxi service but none were available. Fortunately one of the staff members drove all the way down to us from the other side of town just to unlock the door for us. Overall it was a pleasant experience (besides getting locked out) highly recommend.
Very friendly manager. Nice swimming pool that we often had to ourselves. There is a non-touristy convenience store around the corner. The Malecon is a couple minutes away on foot, with several cool restaurants. We booked a tour of the Bio-luminescent Bay at Abe's, and they will pick you up at their storefront the night of your tour.
The window AC unit struggled to keep up, even while sustained at its highest setting, but the two ceiling fans helped to mitigate. No TV in room. Wifi did not work in the room - we had to move outdoors into a 'public area' nearer the building office to catch the signal.
Lots of interesting animals abound. There are small lizards all over (outside), maybe 4" long. Feral horses once you get away from the busy streets. A giant iguana scrambled into the pool once. There are roosters, as mentioned in other reviews. They're definitely noisy but it's not that disruptive with the windows shut and AC on.
Overall a cool place to stay.
