Wonderful Break

Posted 23-Sep-2017
Pros: Proximity to sea front and town
Cons: Bathroom shower
Location: Close to sea front and theatre.
4 Night stay in September with hubby, booked hotel from info on website. It was great from start to finish, breakfasts were lovely, good choice of cooked and continental options. Very attentive staff but not smothering. Ate in the restaurants for 2 nights as had theatre trip booked and another trip. It was very good value for money, John Burton-Race and his team need to be commended, from the amuse bouche through all courses to the petit fours, cannot fault it. We had things we would not have thought of but the menu was varied both nights we ate there. Had coffee and drinks in the lounge and were very well looked after. Our room had a sea view, although not requested, this was a bonus, very clean but probably one of the older rooms, huge bathroom, if I was being picky the shower over the bath needs updating but I think that is in hand based on the work that appears to be taking place gradually. I would not have any hesitation recommending this or returning.

excellent location in Torquay.

Posted 05-Sep-2017
Pros: Top features- location, staff and service, ease of parking,
Cons: Some rooms in need of refurbishment.
Location: Close by- Torre Abbey, Princess theatre, beach, restaurants, modest walk to harbour, shops, land train.
Staff are excellent. Attentive, prompt, polite and very helpful. Location for the seafront and amenities is excellent, however, the road was a little noisy ( I always sleep with a window open). The room was clean but in need of some improvement (Creaky floorboards and a bathroom that needed total replacement, but my fellow travellers had a better room so refurbishment may be in progress). The bed was clean and comfortable. The lounge and dining room were well set out and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The gardens and pool area are delightful. Pre-booking parking provides a named space (close to the entrance) for the duration which was very helpful with an elderly relative. Dogs are allowed but this did not mar our stay.

Great location

Stayed here for two nights with my husband & two teenage grand daughters. We had a very large family room which was perfect for us. All of the staff were extremely helpful & so friendly. Hotel is located just a 2 minute stroll from the sea front & a10 minute walk into the Harbour & town centre.

We had a great stay at The Grosvenor, spacious room and delicious breakfast. We last stayed there in November 2016 and there have been many improvements since our last stay particularly with the breakfast. We will return.

Surprising Find!

Posted 15-Aug-2017
Pros: The service, food and size of accommodation
Cons: The tired interior
Location: Just off the main road (promenade) and an easy walk to the beach, amusements, etc... Cheap ferry trips to Brixham fishing village
Not disappointed at all. In spite of the tired interior, the staff provided a better service then most top rated hotels we've stayed in before, they were consistently helpful and attentive. Sceptical at the mention of a 2 Michelin star chef in the team, I was soon eating my scepticism. The food was amazing, the best lamb I can recall in years. We stayed for Dinner Bed and Breakfast for 2 nights. The food/service was great throughout. As with all hotels, drinks bump the price up (including coffee). We took our 15 year old and 12 year old. The outdoor heated swimming pool was a hit and preferred to the indoor pool (which was perfectly adequate). I accessed the small gym with my son, perfect for working off the meal from the night before! We stayed in a family room which was basically like an apartment. One large bedroom with an enormous bed, TV and the usual refreshments etc... A very reasonable sized twin room with TV and lounge chairs. Bathroom with toilet. Accommodation was ample. Would highly recommend!

Lovely big room for our family

Posted 04-Jul-2017
We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The staff were very efficient especially the life guard. The sun was out so we were able to use the outdoor pool. Could even order drinks to be delivered to the pool. Our two bed room was lovely and spacious and clean. Would definitely stay again.
