check in very quick and efficient, relevant information given. car parking a little expensive at £7 a night.
great location and the room we had gave us great views of the marina and sea looking towards Paignton and Brixham.
we had a superior double room that was large with a huge, very comfortable bed. there was a balcony with sunbeds ( too cold in October )! the room was a little tired and probably due for re-decoration, the bathroom was definitely dated. however , neither of these points would stop us from going again or recommending the hotel to friends. one special point to note is that there were 2 armchairs in the room - so many hotels sell a double room with only 1 chair! well done Imperial!
the breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice from fresh fruit and yoghurt to a full cooked breakfast buffet. all in all a great hotel , in a great location.
Good hotel in a great location. The staff are extremely helpful and the public rooms are in a good state of repair. Our room was at the back of the hotel overlooking the fire escapes so there was some fan noise from the kitchens I assume. The carpets outside our room were threadbare in a few places and were repaired by 'gaffer' tape. The room itself was of a good quality with a nice bathroom. Lots of parking although the roof of the garage is in need of repair and the lighting in there is not great after dark. This is our second stay there so I would recommend the hotel to friends with the above in mind. The building is old and the management are obviously renewing things as they can afford it, hopefully the hall carpets are on the list.

This hotel is very old and has lots of character. Friendly helpful staff with a great breakfast.
Whilst our room was fine it was a bit noisy being next to the kitchens noisy fans. Happy to stay here again.
We booked last minute for a few days break. Booking was easy and straight forward and had the option of paying hotel directly at time of stay which enabled us to pay in cash. We were unable to charge anything to the room though due to technical problems, although this wasn't a problem for us other customers were annoyed. Staff were friendly and helpful
Needs decorating inside & out, the rooms need new furniture before someone hearts them self on it.
they charge £15.00 per night for being dog friendly (giving you a new blanket and ball, very nice) But £15.00 a night for deep cleaning it would have been nice if they had done that for me!
The breakfast was nice, but getting ice cold milk for the tea/coffee?
The hotel is a Grade II listed building, which has many original features and has been updated to reflect its history.
The hotel is full of medieval style pictures, tapestries, suits of armour and other ornaments which make it very enjoyable just to walk around. Dogs are allowed in the bar and there is a selection of board games (and suitable tables) to entertain children. The food in both the bar and restaurant is excellent and the service very good. The rooms were very comfortable with large four poster beds and a dressing room, but with very modern bathrooms - a huge roll top bath and a walk-in shower, so suitable for all! The building is very old and so some of the floors and walls are a little uneven, but it all adds to the charm. The whole building creaks, but at night it is absolutely silent with no residual light from neighbouring properties and so we all got a good night's sleep.
The Riviera comprises three main towns: Torquay is the most fashionable and popular with a luxury marina, good beaches, and family attractions including a famous Model Village and the Kent’s Cavern. Paignton is a more traditional English resort, boasting a superb zoo. Brixham is not only a picturesque fishing harbour but one of Britain's busiest fishing ports. The adjacent area, the South Hams, is known as one of the prettiest in England.
