The people at Boca Chica were outstanding. We felt welcomed immediately and the views are stunning. The food is lacking for dinner a bit... but breakfast is wonderful! Not sure I understand the Japanese influenced menu... I wish it was just authentic Mexican recipes from the region using fresh local fish. Ceviche is a winner though. The pool is amazing and the place is just fantastically charming. Make sure you dive off of the boat dock!

The view from our room, the lobby and the restaurant was amazing. It is old Acapulco so you will see very few, if any Americans. Our room was very comfortable but simple and reasonably priced. The pool was clean but many tiles were missing on the bottom so from a distance it didn't look very good. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The food in the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. We would definitely stay there again.
The room smelled like there was mold, but it it was just the humidity in the air, it was exceptionally clean. The maid washed all the tiled walls and floors every day we were thers. Bring your own coffee for the coffee machines, as they don't provide that. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The pools are very clean. We are definetely planning on going back.

I stayed Jan. 13-20, 2016, in Room 203.
Though the hotel is no longer new and a few sections have been closed off, it is still overall very comfortable and clean, with a responsive staff.
The hotel consists of groups of spacious rooms built into the cliffs at the top of La Quebrada, where the famous Acapulco cliff divers perform. Many rooms have small balconies overlooking the ocoan.
It has an amazing history; you can find a wall famous guests from the past have signed -- ex. Clint Eastwood, Mel Ferrer, etc. The first famous guest an Acapulco taxi driver mentioned was former US President Lyndon B. Johnson.
The sections still open have been reasonably maintained, and despite their age kept very clean.
But demanding guests should remember that being clean is not the same as being brand new.
The combination tub/shower (many Acapulco hotels have only a shower) was well worn, but there was always lots of hot water, both there and at the sink, and lots of towels -- large and white and fluffy.
The quiet air conditioning worked perfectly, with air aimed against a far wall so there was no draft on the bed.
The hotel, with few guests, was exceptionally peaceful and quiet.
A few things did not work upon check-in -- the sink's drain had to be unclogged (quickly fixed), and one remote was missing for the old tube-style TV.
If things like that would ruin your vacation, this hotel is not for you.
But if staying in a clean, quiet place with amazing history is, then I recommend it highly
At La Quebrada, professional cliff divers soar through the air daily. Near El Centro and the Malecon promenade, Fort San Diego (Museo Fuerte de San Diego) showcases colonial wealth and might. At the tip of Old Town, Caleta and Caletilla beaches feature calm waters thanks to Isla de la Roqueta, an island accessible by glass-bottom boats. Coyuca Lagoon, a fish and bird sanctuary, is nearby.
