Only real issue for English speaking guest was only one English language T.V. station. Our room had no view, this was the same for several rooms, that said lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful receptionists. Good location with free on street parking outside, pay parking beneath hotel.
Hotel direction/location signs provided by "council" get you close then give up!!
Close to bus/train station. Can walk everywhere in El Puerto. Beautiful old monastery hotel with nice public areas (garden, pool, terraces ). Excellent breakfast. Our room was probably the most basic but was spacious and clean with comfortable beds. If you hire a car you can park in the 'central' public underground parking for €3.95 for 24 hours, otherwise avoid driving as you do not need a car there and can go to Cadiz by catamaran for a couple of euros. We hired a car for a few days to visit inland - Los pueblos blancos and the coast, and driving around is easy. We enjoyed our stay there very much.

Just back from our second visit to Hotel Puerto Sherry. Last year we were delighted when on arrival we discovered that the hotel had upgraded us to a marina view room with a huge balcony. This year we felt it was worth paying the extra to secure the same marina view, which stretches across to Cadiz. Glad we did, though on our next visit we might ask for a double rather twin beds - which moved around a lot! The staff at the hotel are extremely helpful and courteous, from reception to housekeeping and the customer service staff. Reception made various bookings on our behalf which we appreciated. We had good weather and were therefore able to enjoy the sun terrace, which was nice and quiet during our stay.
Overall, we had an enjoyable, relaxed holiday at Hotel Puerto Sherry and would consider visiting again.

We ended up in an apartment so had a small kitchen & 2 bedrooms which we didn't need. But there was a washing machine which we took advantage of. No instructions on how to use it but all was ok in the end. No dryer so just draped our items over chair backs . Grounds, garden, pool & patio areas were very nice. People in the apt above were a little noisy but we still had a good sleep. Buffet breakfast very nice too. Reception staff was very helpful. No bars or restaurants really close to the hotel; we ate dinner at the hotel & had a decent meal.
Its very central to El Puerto, the staff are excellent and the rooms are left spotlessly clean by the staff every morning and topped up with soap and shower gel and there is a TV and several different lamps in the room for reading etc
The only downside is there is a little bit of noise coming in from outside at the weekends due to its proximity to a club. It didn't bother me as I am quite a heavy sleeper.
Breakfast is excellent quality and the staff are very helpful and friendly.
Once you find this place, it is a pleasant change from hotels, with a sitting-room and fully-equipped kitchen. There is a small supermarket just down the street opposite the entrance, open when other shops are closed. The town has a large, interesting church, a small but elegant castle and a number of museums. There is a boat service to Cadiz, but this was not running in winter after a bad storm. Cadiz is 40 minutes by local train and Jerrez much closer - Cadiz 4 Euros day return and Jerez 1.15 Euros single (both with Tareja Dorada). Note that everything closes on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday - plan your visit accordingly.

Close to Jerez de la Frontera, the port of Santa María has flourished from the export of sherry and, like its neighbour, features several famous bodegas, open to visitors. There is a small whitewashed old town, an historic bullring and a castle to explore. The port is also home to a fishing fleet, and there are good beaches to either side of town. Nearby is a new marina-resort, Puerto Sherry.
