I had to start from my hotel at 3 AM to make it to this location before dawn. Botany Bay Plantation is a nature preserve and has regulated visitor hours. Gates open 30 minutes before sunrise - I wish they'd open a little sooner as the golden hour is pretty much more than half way done by the time one can make it to the beach. Nevertheless, it's a great location to visit at sunrise, especially if there are high clouds to add drama. Recommended to visit when the tide is ebbing as you then get the shadows of the trees, which to my eyes add more depth to the image. On this day, there was a bank of low clouds that prevented too much color but it was a great sunrise to witness nonetheless. The trees have so much character and add so much to the image. Our group of 13 had a wonderful beach vacation. This waterfront property is perfect for little kids who may have limited time on the beach before needing a nap or snack. We were able to spend a couple hours out in the waves before returning back for naps and home cooked meals. This house is wonderful for large parties of 10-12\. There’s plenty of plates and utensils, kitchen items (a kitchen aid, in fact, and two coffee makers) and seating downstairs under the home for some simple, quiet outdoor time. The house could use a little work with fit and finish (and could have used a deeper clean before our visit), but it was still a great time regardless of the imperfections. ##### Sarah L. The Vacasa team was amazing to quickly get us a new place to stay when we were about an hour away from check-in. The house has mixed review. Pros Layout was amazing! Never could tell it was a duplex as it was so quiet & private. The kitchen was well stocked with all the appliances, tools & dishes needed. There was some beach toys, boogie boards and a beach chair at the house for use as well. Also loved having a house on the concrete covered parking area to spray the sand off. The house had numerous games, puzzles and numerous TV streaming options. Location was amazing with getting to see tons of Dolphins each day!! Cons Bugs, bugs, bugs. I am sure most were due to the marsh right off the backyard, but there were so many bugs it made being outside miserable. We also killed several bugs inside during our stay. The path with direct access to the beach is great, but it was overgrown in areas, so it felt like you were walking through a forest to get to the beach. The cleaning could have been a little better as I found a broken dirty razor in the master bathroom and lots of dead bugs behind the rocking chairs in the master bedroom. ##### Jennifer M. Our family of 12 had a fabulous trip. The location has a boardwalk for easy access to the beach. We saw numerous dolphins every day. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds were comfortable. Probably not a major problem if you come during good weather and can be outside the majority of the time. We absolutely loved staying here! The house was very roomy, clean, and accessible to the beach. Although it was a bit chilly for sunbathing, we loved being able to easily go to the beach for bocce and horseshoes. The kitchen had everything we needed, the whole house was very clean, and we had plenty of room to hang out and also some alone quiet time if needed. We loved the huge table for playing board and card games and for eating together. We will most definitely stay here next time! We also enjoyed being at the end of the island. Looking out to the ocean and seeing the other ocean and the inlet was beautiful! 5 star, would highly recommend it! ##### Allison G. There was no pantry in the kitchen and the washer and dryer were also in the kitchen. There was no place to put your dry goods and with the washer and dryer in the kitchen, it was extremely cluttered and uncomfortable.
