Incredibly noisy - avoid

Posted 06-Feb-2016
Don't stay here - no sleep as so noisy and very poor service. Avoid at all costs. I would never stay here again.

Dear Anonymous, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback on your recent stay. Being a City Centre property it is difficult to get away from some traffic noise, especially in our castle facing rooms, like the one you stayed in. I only wish you had given us the opportunity to move you to an alternative, more suitable room. I am sorry that we did not have the opportunity to fix this for you and hope that you give the hotel another chance. Best regards, Dale MacPhee General Manager

Nice hotel with excellent staff.

Posted 27-Jan-2016
Fabulous welcome. Nice room but I have stayed in better of a similar rating. Furniture a bit damaged, cracked floor tile. But very clean with nice amenities. Stay was spoilt by there being no hot water in the morning. The hotel staff responded quickly to this when I eventually got someone to answer the phone but would have expected better from this standard of hotel.

Great Hotel, bit of TLC needed.

Posted 20-Jan-2016
Pros: Spa & Pool, Staff, Peacock Alley bar & restaurant.
Cons: A bit of TLC needed to maintain the rooms, sort out the ventilation issue & maybe introduce some secondary glazing to help with the road noise.
Location: Edinburgh.......Enough said! Everything is within walking distance, great location.
Had a great 4 night stay at this hotel to visit the wonderful city of Edinburgh. Everything was perfect with the exception of the room. We stayed in a Double-double room and found a few issues with it. Door handles that came off when you opened a door, lights that did not work, single glazing which did not mute the noise from what seemed to be a main route for emergency vehicles day & night however the main issue was the smell of the kitchens seemed to be getting into the ventilation system which lead to us being woken up through the night by various food smells. I'm a great fan of the smell of bacon or coffee in the morning but being woken at 3am by the smell of various cooked foods being prepared for breakfast later that morning wasn't great. We did not let this dampen our break however and other than the above we had a great time and the staff were excellent at making you feel welcome.

Nice hotel, lovely facilities.

Great central location and facilities. I thought the queen delux room would be nicer, no walk in shower as shown in the hotel pictures.

Over-rated

Posted 01-Jan-2016
Location: Perfect location
Booked this hotel online with a 50% discount 6 months before the Christmas holiday. Disappointed with the room located on 5th floor (some sort of attic). Small room, quite unimpressive. Drafty windows so had to leave the heating on permanently otherwise it would have been cold. Food was nice but definitely overpriced even for a five star hotel. Spa and sauna were really good and probably the best thing about this hotel. The gym looked so nice that I regretted that I didn't take my sports equipment with me. Overall just an okay stay at this hotel.

Great location.

Posted 21-Dec-2015
Pros: Everything!
Location: Great location for our party as we were attending a event at Murrayfield Stadium
Staff were all lovely and the breakfast chef (can't remember his name) made everyone smile with his morning banter. First chef I've met that laughs!! 😂

Fabulous hotel, everything you need and more.

Posted 14-Dec-2015
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing for us.
Location: Good location near to all major attractions.
The hotel lived upto expectations. The Christmas atmosphere was very present. We received a very warm welcome, check in was seamless, which is unusual when you have three rooms. The rooms were all good, nice size and very clean. We only stayed one night but throughout our stay ALL the staff were really helpful, courteous and attentive to what ever we needed. The hotel is in a great position, just a short walk from all tourist attractions, there is a tram service along Princess Street to the hotel if you are tired when returning from a day visiting the sites. Would highly recommend and we all said we would stay there again if we return to Edinburgh.
