Grand Hotel with Great Lication

Located right in old town within walking distance of Edinburgh Castle, Royal Mike, shopping and lots of dining. Very attentive staff, helpful and friendly. Food was excellent and room was very spacious, clean and beds comfortable. We used both gym and pool and enjoyed them. A bit pricey but a great hotel in Scotland!

Good city centre hotel

Pros: Staff were great. Dining and drinking options were great.
Cons: Room prefectly functional but a little tired. Cracked tiles to bathroom floor and furniture a little scuffed.
Fantastic early morning check in. Front desk staff and concierge very helpful. Easy access to public transport. Edinburgh Castle on your doorstep.

Nice hotel! Close to every activitys

Love this hotel. Clean, stuff are nice and friendly. Good breakfast, love the bar. Swimming pool is bery clean. Also love the spa.

Good location and friendly staff with good food

We stayed in the hotel two nights at the start of our trip and two nights at the end. We were very pleased with that we stayed at that hotel.

Go to the balmoral instead- this hotel is trading on a name and a history and hugely overated. No substance and disappointing standards. Rude staff who don't look at you when they speak to you and are extremely dismissive with querys. It's Embarrassing. Also, treated exceptionally different when booking via a third party, you would think we got it at a super discounted price which was NOT the case we were made feel substandard. Rooms are dusty and old and bed was rock hard. I'm a firm believer you get what you pay for and unfortunately its not the case with this hotel, I was not 'wowed' at any point. It was neither a pleasure or privilege to stay here.

So glad we chose the Waldor!

We got a fair deal on our room. After staying there, I would definitely book again, even if I had to pay a little more. Incredible hospitality and so nice to come home to after a busy day. It was an old railway station and they have preserved the classic features of this landmark.

This is not the Waldorf of Old

Aesthetically the building still captures the charm of a bygone era. However the.service is not at all the five star level that it proclaims to be . Not even close unfortunately. The ironing board.in the room was broken and kept on collapsing on my foot. Not a huge deal as we got a replacement and an iron that came with it. As soon as we plugged it in a loud bang and sparks flew from the iron , burning my brothers hand and shorting the.electrics in the room. We called Malcolm at the.Concierge desk and was asked.if we could call back as the.frontdesk was busy. No offer of first aid was offered . After 20 minutes Dean at the frontdesk called and offered a.room change if the problem with the room's electrics could not be rectified. He additionally offered us dinner to apologize for the experience. He was the only person that seemed concerned about our overall experience at the Waldorf. Housekeeping never replenished our towels.or bathroom amenities during our two day stay which was not what one would expect from a five star property.

Beautiful hotel with great views.

Awesome location. Beautiful views of the castle, very friendly staff. The breakfast buffet is amazing too!

Not a 5 star hotel!

The room was dusty, bed was old and scritching, the noise from outside kept us away the whole night. The hotel staff was unfriendly.

Great hotel.excellent location.

Pros: Clean. Convenient.
Location: Close to cemetery, park for kids, castle, shopping. Picked hotel because of location and not disappointed.
Staff was exceptional. Couldn't ask for more. Food was very good.
