Excellent accommodations. The staff was friendly, prompt and very helpful. The food in the restaurant was delicious and there were other options within walking distance. The property is in old town where history took place. The train station is just across the street and that was very convenient for those travelers coming by train. The only item to note is that the nearby bridge is being reconstructed so there is some congestion from the construction site; however, we did not hear it from our room

Room was fabulous , Views of the castle and princess street. Ordered room service , meals were excellent . Only problem was finding access to the Market Street entrance , due to work on the north bridge street. Suggestion would be to advise the postal code of that enterance,or a nearby business on market street . Great stay , have stayed our last four trips to Edinburgh.

I went to stay in this hotel with my mum for valentines and in our room they put some chocolates in are room and Theo’s was a people were nice and I can wait to come back. I had so much fun. Zara-rose, 8 years old.

Work underway at front of property which was heard in room until early in morning. Air conditioning not working and we were given a Dyson fan to heat room which had to be switched off at night so noise from it did not keep us awake. Told engineers would fix air con fault but after 2 days we left with Dyson still in place. Wind got up on second night and caused horrendous banging which appeared to come from window frame on room next door. Has to sleep with ear plugs which forrtunately i carry. Scotsman to date have failed to reply to my email regarding our stay. Overall, disappointing.

Excellent property. Room and room views were perfect. The renovation is lovely and the staff couldn't be nicer. Location is great too with great access to the Royal Mile from floor 4 or to train station and beyond to the north from the level 0 entrance. All around a very nice experience, would highly recommend this hotel. We will be back.

From the moment we walked into the hotel everything was perfect, staff were incredibly helpful. We also booked the date night package in the picture house which I’d definitely recommend. The room was big, clean and modern. Couldn’t fault a thing. It was one of the more expensive options in the city but definitely worth the money and then some!

Fantastic City Break Hotel
A fantastic stay at The Scotsman, staff very friendly and efficient, our room was up in the eves of this historic building was beautifully decorated and we felt very private, a lovely view over the gardens/ Christmas Market from the window. Very good choice at breakfast and well stocked. Location central to both old and new town so everything on hand. The only negative was the stair way from Market Street from the train station to the hotel front door was not pleasant to use, rubbish and smell of urine, understand that the hotel might not own the stairway but can give a wrong first impression.

From check-in, to check out, this is one phenomenal property. We’ve stayed all over the world in some of the most elite hotel brands and I can assure you, you won’t find better service than here. Exceptionally professional, helpful and astute staff will greet you and ensure every need is met. Not only is it historical, but beautifully adorned and decorated, with comfort in mind. The breakfast is top notch, the rooms truly spectacular. I cannot recommend anything more highly.

I wasn’t happy with the service at all. Nothing was proactive and there was an issue with every request. When asking concierge service you would expect a bit of proactiveness and a lot of can do attitude, none of which existed. Asking for in room breakfast specially when you aren’t feeling well vs going to the restaurant for breakfast you would expect “what’s your order, sir” but that too didn’t exist and the restaurant and the excuse was lame; kitchen is busy! Busy with what? When wI visited the restaurant it looked empty and the staff looked calm. Even when we asked for a simple omelette it wasn’t possible to prepare. I was disappointed at the level of service I got for the money I have spent, I was longing for a bit of comfort and a lot of convenience that I couldn’t find. The best things about the stay was the location and the type of room that I chose and paid for, so they don’t get praised for it.

The service was great overall, but it did vary between the two girls that were on reception, i think one had a friendlier disposition and knew more. We had an issue in our room being able to use the Netflix connection, the colleague tried to help but unfortunately was not able to do so. There was only 5 basic channels on the TV and after which went to kid's, news etc. Not the wnd of the world by all means but nice to have a choice after a long day out. The room was lovely and thw hotel overall was great and i would stay again and recommend it.

1st of all...I never want to stay in another hotel in EDI and usually come every year....However, I had left my passport in my room...and was in York upon my departure. I called the hotel 3 times, and each time was rather brushed off by the agent saying it does not look like it is here. Well, it was there. Losing your passport is EXTREMELY STRESSFUL, and the hotel could have made a trip to the US Consulate in Battersea London unnecessary. After the 4th call, the agent (at midnight) called back and said my passport was in the safe. My driver turned the cab around but I accrued a charge of 963.00 GBP in taxi charges that ultimately were totally NOT necessary, if someone had spent just a little time trying to assist me.
