Claustrophobic

Posted 21-Jul-2016
Pros: Location was good. There were plenty of food options and good pubs close by and it was not far to walk to major attractions and transport.
Cons: Please renovate the room to match the advertised mezzanine layout at least if you advertise as for 2 people.
Location: Easy walk to many major attractions and plenty of buses close by to the rest of Edinburgh.
I was expecting 'cosy' but room was claustrophobic as the expected mezzanine bed was on the same level as the rest of the room and was jammed up against the wall. We saw there were other rooms on our floor that did have the advertised layout. The only saving grace was the height of the ceiling and the size of the window, although we still couldn't see the sky. Two people could not pass each other anywhere in the room. The room was clean and well fitted out but my husband felt so confined he had to leave the room for a walk outside regularly. The only lounge chair was outside the bathroom door.

Pros: self-contained laundry facilities close by
Cons: The layout/design of apartments. They need to be more spacious for the amount of furniture and to be comfortable for 2 people to stay in.
Location: close to supermarkets laundry facilities on site 10min walk to Royal Mile
The layout of our apartment wasn't ideal. The apartment width is very narrow, there is not much space for two people to move around and not much space to store luggage. We were constantly in each others way when moving around from the kitchen to bathroom.

Good location, good rooms

Posted 04-Jun-2016
This is located near Holyrood and not far from the Royal Mile. About a 10min walk to the station. The apartment is small, basically a room with a mezzanine floor where your double bed is. Small bathroom with shower. Small sitting area next to the kitchen. What more could you need? Always amazed at how noisy other people are, but that goes for every where you stay.

Convenient location, 15 minutes to the train.

Posted 02-Jun-2016
Pros: 15 minute walk to the train station
Cons: Steps in the unit cracking
Location: You can walk to the Edinburgh castle
Unit is on 2 levels, kitchen well equipped, comfortable bed but accessible only from one side since one side faces the mezzanine.

Noisy hotel if on the main steet

Posted 01-Jun-2016
Pros: Clean, modern, full furnished for your daily needs.
Cons: Add air, portable fan to bring air into the appartment. No air circulation and very hot. Don't dispatch many nights travellers facing main street.
Location: Old Downtown 20 min walk. Cafes, resto, pool, groceries all there.
I would expect based on our reservation date (august for may) and our duration (4 nights) that we would had been dispatch in a more QUIET appartment. Hotel was full, bank holiday week-end. We felt we had been assigned the less desirable appartment on site. Unstead, we were facing main street, noisy bus, trucks, emergency ambulance, bus stop just down below our windows, means people not only talking but screaming drunk waiting at the bus stop or walking on sidewalk for the whole duration of our stay, every night. We could open our windows by only few inches to get air to ventilate the appartment and when we were doing so, we were facing even more all that noise. Uncomfortable and too and even with window close, that noise was disturbing our rest and quality of life all our stay until 0400 am every night. Totally unacceptable!!! Again, if we would had an appartment facing inside garden or minor steet, the experience would had been enjoyable. I would only recommend this place with view, windows facing inside garden or terrasse. A real shame because the staff and accomodation were very nice.

Ok aber zu laut.

Posted 23-May-2016

Very handy for centre of Edinburgh. We were going to show at Festival Theatre which was only a 5 minute walk. Quite basic but very clean. Would stay here again.

Great Flats in Edinburgh!

Posted 28-Apr-2016 on Orbitz
We really enjoyed our stay at the Richmond Place Apartments. There is no better way to experience a new place than renting a fully furnished flat, and living like a local. The Apartments are centrally located, very close to the university, and act as an amazing home base for a great walking city!

Great self service apartment

Posted 10-Apr-2016 on Orbitz
In a quiet neighborhood about a 15 minute walk to Waverly Station and Princes Street. Run by University of Edinburgh so lots of coffee shops and nicely priced restaurants. Grocery shopping within five minutes walk.

Good value for money

Posted 22-Mar-2016
Pros: Location, price, cleanliness, level of equipment, helpful staff.
Cons: Ventilation/aircon. Thicker carpets. Quality and range of toiletries.
Location: Great location, a short walk to the main attractions and transport links.
I stayed in a split level apartment for 4 nights in March. Check in was quick and easy and the staff were friendly and helpful. My first impression was that it was typical university accommodation but actually it was better than most I've stayed in as it was aimed at business customers and had been refurbished fairly recently. It was clean, had an excellent shower, a comfortable bed, a TV on each level, a desk with plenty of sockets nearby, wifi that worked and all the kitchen equipment I needed. It was a 10 minute walk to Waverley Station and Princes Street and 3 minutes to the nearest bus stops, supermarkets and restaurants. On the downside, there was an opening window but it didn't open very far - I didn't need any heating even in March and in summer I think it could get quite hot and stuffy. The soundproofing was poor, the floorboards creaked and you could hear other people moving about at times. The room was advertised as a double but it would have been a bit cramped for 2 people.
