Beautiful building right at the city centre, but..

Posted 05-Dec-2016
Pros: A beautiful old building, right at the city center
Cons: Rennovation and sound proofing
Location: Edinburgh city centre - what else is there to say? ;)
I think it's a bit too noisy for me. The building age, although it adds to its immense charm, makes it a bit cramped and uncomfortable on the inside: rooms are small and you can hear the water going down the pipes all night.

Nice Hotel good location

Posted 30-Nov-2016
Pros: Clean and comfortable, friendly staff, good breakfast and great location.
Cons: nothing in particular.
Location: As stated great location, close to main attractions of Edinburgh eg Castle.
The Old Waverley a very good hotel within the heart of Edinburgh. Our room had a nice view of Princess St and the various features of Edinburgh.

Bra hotell på utmärkt läge

Perfekt läge nära flygbussen och alla affärer på shoppinggatan. Fint nyrenoverat rum, möjligen var sängarna lite för korta.

The room was cold and the AC didn't work well. There are much better Hotel's to stay at.

Nice hotel with a great view

Posted 22-Nov-2016
Pros: Comfortable beds, clean room, pleasant staff.
Cons: Some decor could be updated, such as windows.
Location: Great location - situated on Princes Street amongst all the shops and within walking distance of Calton Hill, the Royal Mile, and Edinburgh Castle.
Stayed for 2 nights and found the hotel to be lovely. Our room looked out onto Princes Street, which gave us a great view but could be quite noisy late at night.

Good hotel, good location

Posted 19-Nov-2016
Pros: Location
Cons: Communal areas and windows
Location: Very central
The hotel is brilliantly located, 2 minutes from the train station and the bus stop for the airport. The hotel itself is comfortable, clean and reasonably priced but would benefit from a little refurbishment in places, for example the entrance hall and reception and all communal carpets look very tired but most importantly the investment in double glazing, the drafts from the windows was terrible in our room. One small observation, the bathrooms look like they have fairly recently been refurbished, but the sink is very high, a short person would really struggle!!! All things considered I would/will stay again

Very handy for the station and Princes Street

Posted 18-Nov-2016
Pros: Its position in particular as it is just across the road from the railway station and on Princes Street .
Cons: Some things are showing signs of age . Staff could be a bit more on the ball ; my husband had trouble contacting me .
Location: The hotel is close to the station and to the famous department store Jenners Its not far from any of the other main shopping areas .
I found the hotel very easily and appreciated the fact that it was very close to the railway station . The reception area is on the first floor and guests are warned of the 27 steps up to it but really isn't a great problem . The receptionist had difficulty to start with in finding my booking but was on the whole helpful ! Wondered if a knowledge of English ( Scottish ?) was lacking in some of them . The room was small but adequate for my needs as I was on my own . Some of the fittings looked a bit shabby but everything was spotlessly clean , especially the bathroom . I had a calm and peaceful night !

The hotel seemed to be a lot cleaner and friendlier when we stayed a few years ago.
