    5/5 Excellent

My husband and I chose to stay for 2days at Melville Castle to finish off our 2 week travels around the Highlands. It was an excellent choice. We booked the first floor suite and were able to drive our car around to the back of the castle to our back door. This made for easy access to carry in our luggage and provided us a lovely view of the grand fountain and horses that grazed in the green pasture beyond. The room was just lovely, very comfortable four poster bed and a sitting room with a television. It had a clean bathroom and a shower that was the best we had in all the places we had previously stayed in. The bar and library were

The hotel is secluded enough so you feel that you’re away from the world yet actually only a 30 minute bus ride from the city centre and within walking distance of attractions anyway. Would recommend having a car if spending time away from the castle, but if you’re looking to relax, eat great food and enjoy a few drinks then the property does the job. The staff are amazing, wasn’t our first stay and they seem to have staff that have been employed a while, which can tell you a lot about a place. The food is excellent, a wee bit pricy as is the bar but no more so than most places in the city centre would be. Breakfast selection is great too. Only down side is the WiFi came and went quite a bit, in our room at least, and as you’re quite secluded it’s difficult to get phone signal if you’re trying to connect with 4G etc. But in a way it lends to the rustic setting and surroundings to be offline for a bit. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

You need to see it to believe it

Absolutely amazing to stay somewhere with so much history, my only letdown was I thought the bedrooms could match the same as the rest of the castle just a bit to normal for here, staff lovely breakfast wonderful, only real grumble but nothing to do with the hotel but there was a wedding at the hotel and the wedding photographer decided to place her camera bag on my car and was leaning to take pictures on my car, I asked her to remove herself which she ignored and she went on to ignore the night security guy too she was very rude...
