Very nice location with sea view

Lovely hotel by the sea. Great staff at reception, bar, restaurant. Excellent food in restaurant, great walks. Only disappointment was that they did not/ have room upgrade, as promised by Expedia. Would go back.

Hervorragend gelegenes Hotel

Posted 30-Oct-2016

Fabulous view!

Posted 24-Oct-2016
Pros: Loved the spa with its hydrotherapy (jacuzzi) steam rooms etc. Breakfast was also great with the most delicious smoked salmon served with the best scrambled eggs. Also the breakfast room has the most amazing view If you can get a window table.
Cons: The rooms could do with a facelift but we really didn't spend too much time in the room. The view from our room made up for it.
Location: Beautiful beach walks right from the door. We also loved North Berwick and some of the shops and restaurants, particularly Herringbone Bistro.

Great setting but outdated and expensive.

Posted 19-Sep-2016
Pros: Views and staff. Bed very comfortable.
Cons: Furnishings in suite need updating and bathroom needs replacing
Location: . Good walks on beach. Golf course just at perimeter of hotel. Stunning view across Firth of Forth.
Lovely spacious suite but furniture needs updating and bath too small. Beautiful scenery across golf course to beach. Restaurant very pricey. Do not request a well done steak it was like eating charcoal. £34.00 for a bottle of Rioja which would retail in the supermarket for £9.00 was very excessive.. Staff were polite, friendly, and helpful.

Ein angenehmer Kurzaufenthalt

Posted 15-Aug-2016

On the beach

Posted 19-Jul-2016
A very unique beach and golf field side hotel. Vintage design and classic decor. Reasonable size room and very delicious breakfast. The only thing that was annoying is that the room was really hot while the weather outside was 12c. So we ordered a fan. The other thing is the swimming pool area was full of parents with their children and it's not big enough to share and enjoy it.

Macdonald Marine

Booked after a family wedding in Edinburgh to relax. Arrived at lunch time as we were playing golf in the afternoon. Room not available but we were ok as we wanted lunch and then to head on. Ordered soup and club sandwich. Type of soup changed three times in 20 mins. Finally got something which I have no idea what it was apart from tasteless. Had booked dinner in restaurant. This was also disappointing, at least 50% of menu unavailable. Drink service also poor. We were offered Heineken only to be told none available! Could go on but think there is enough here to paint picture. Curtain liner in room was torn and scruffy. Plus points? Staff at reception very nice and pool area very good. Would not book again.
