Older hotel close to Holyrood Park

Posted 22-Sep-2016
Pros: Location
Cons: A firmer mattress, new couch, and new carpet/floor would be great.
Location: A five minute walk to Holyrood Palace, as well as Arthur's Seat (my highlight of visiting Edinburgh) and just off the bottom of the Royal Mile.
Great location close to Holyrood Park, Palace, and Royal Mile. Close to a Tesco Express and a couple of restaurants. I was under-impressed with the hotel room itself, which was a good size but with a sunken mattress and sunken/older couch.

缺點:飯店地點離waverley station頗遠,位於舊城區的石板路拖行李很不方便,飯店未事先告知早餐須收取多少費用。優點:房間整體來說蠻舒適的。

Little bit of luxury down near the Royal Mile

Posted 19-Sep-2016
Pros: up market and luxurious lobby and entrance hall.
Cons: some fo the wood work around the wardrobe was a bit tired looking
Location: open top bus tours 2 mins away at Holyrood palace/ stright onto Crags and A Seat/ Royal Mile/ great cafes/ restaurants/ pubs /
We enjoyed a one night stay in a twin room. There was limited view of the Crags but as we were out and about this didnt matter. The beds were comfy, lots of hot water for a bath, tea bags and a air conditioning that you could switch off. The reception staff were very polite and friendly as were other members of staff that we passed in the corridor. Great location for cafes/restaurants/ open top bus tours/

Excellent in every way

Posted 11-Sep-2016
Pros: Staff, room, location, quiet
Location: Close to all of old town and the Royal Mile at the Palace end.
After many nights in Edinburgh I can say without hesitation that our night at the MacDonald was far and away the best. Great staff, quiet and comfortable room, excellent location if you know your way around the old town. Absolutely no omplaints.

One of the best.

Posted 24-Aug-2016
Pros: Clean, staff , quality of room and bed, breakfast.
Cons: It is pretty close to perfect
Location: Holyrood Castle and park. Arthur's Seat. The Royal Mile.
We were early but our room was ready and we had obviously been upgraded as the bed was a super king. Spotless room, beautiful bathroom. Bed so comfortable and pillows gorgeous (often they are not). Lovely staff especially the concierge service guys who are helpful without being overbearing and remembered our names even though we only stayed one night. Two tiny blips. Housekeeping knocked to be let in at 9am to clean when it should be known to them who has checked out and who has not. Breakfast was super. Coffee and toast a bit slow to arrive. Minor points when everything else was really excellent. A cool location within a short walk of Arthur's Seat. Great views from there and the city also on your doorstep without being in the middle of the crowds.

Decent hotel

Posted 23-Aug-2016
Within our room, it was quite dated with the decor & design, but very spacious, clean and comfortable. Ground floor twin room: so no view out of window other than the concrete wall & building next door, plus at night: bright halogen lights directly in window, however they have good blinds/curtain to be able to blackout the room. A very nice breakfast, if somewhat a little expensive considering it wasn't included in our room rate. overall, a comfortable stay in a nice hotel in the middle of Edinburgh.

Good location

Posted 18-Aug-2016
Pros: Location - at bottom of Royal Mile where it's much quieter
Cons: More bar staff at nighttime and availability for food later at night - our group wanted both. No food after 9pm and bar understaffed after pm
Location: Holyrood Palace & Park 1 block away. Hemma restaurant and a Pizza restaurant right next door. Can easily walk the entire Royal Mile from here.
Handled our bus tour very efficiently. Best breakfast of all our stays as they offered a few more options. Lots of nice lounging area where our tour members could meet for a drink at day's end. Didn't try the spa or other amenities.

Good Hotel Close to attractions

Posted 15-Aug-2016
Pros: Location, staff, room
Cons: Breakfast. Air conditioning.
Location: Location as stated above very good. Next door to Parliament Buildings which is very interesting to tour and Holyrood Palace is 5 min walk
Lovely hotel which is well located near to Royal Mile, Holyrood Palace and Parliament Buildings. 20 min walk to Princes Street and just under a mile to Edinburgh Castle. Staff very welcoming and concierge excellent. Room was lovely with everything required. Air conditioning could be a little more efficient. Breakfast ok but am amazed they charge supplements for run of the mill breakfast choices such as eggs benedict. All in all a very pleasant stay.
