Convenient for the zoo with good car parking

Posted 19-Sep-2017
Pros: Location and parking.
Cons: Bathroom would benefit from makeover.
Location: Good for zoo and buses into the City are every 5 mins.
I stayed here 20 years ago and it has changed little. Bit dated and bathroom in particular could do with updating. Evening meal was good and well priced. Breakfast good. A good hotel but nothing special.

The bathroom towel used for the floor doesn't smell good. To go to the tourist spots you have to take the bus. Yo have to travel 15 mins. to their downtown.

Pros: The location
Was quite disappointed with the service. The plates, forks and spoons where not cleaned properly and more importantly the air condition in the did not work. I had to call them few times but finally i was told its been fixed but to my surprise they had kept an air cooler in the room. The exhaust in the bathroom did not work and it was not fixed in spite of complaining.

Had a nice stay. Easy access to most places in the city and clean rooms and cordial staff. Overall very positive.

Needs freshening up and secure wifi

Posted 21-Aug-2017
Nice hotel was comfortable for three of us, but we had to use a sofa bed in our room. This got in the way really. Room comfortable but the furnishings looked tired. The "free" wifi was unsecured - very bad news, but fast enough with good signal. Breakfast was OK but no milk in the Latte from the coffee machine and no apparent action from staff when notified. Little touches like these make a difference. However, staff were helpful and we enjoyed the stay.

Excellent value hotel in convenient location

Posted 05-Aug-2017
Pros: Everything was to a good/high standard.
Cons: A lift or even a pavement if arriving by bus. Coach parties are told to be quiet in corridors if leaving before 7.30am.
Location: Right next door to Zoo.
This hotel is ideally placed just outside of Edinburgh but with quick and very convenient transport links to the centre. It was quiet and the room and food were good. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Nothing was too much bother. Having a gym and pool was an added bonus, although you do have to book your time to avoid overcrowding.

Good hotel next to zoo only 20mins to city centre

Fabulous base for family of 4 to visit city and have a swim each day. Ate breakfast, lunch and an evening meal across duration of stay. With Kids eat free very good value. Staff consistently excellent. Best customer service ever when something minor wrong with meal. Unequivocally recommend. (All day family ticket for bus only £8.50 buses stop directly outside)
