Great view from restaurant

Posted 31-Aug-2015
Pros: Close to the airport, about a 10 minute drive in the morning.
Cons: Needs a remodel.
Location: The Zoo was near by but closed by the time we got there. No significant restaurants within walking distance. However the view was spectacular.
The hotel was difficult to enter if driving yourself and awkward in finding the lobby entrance. The hotel is dated and the carpet old. slight musty smell to the place. The room was comfortable but also very dated. Like stepping back into the seventies. The restaurant was pleasant and the food was good but nothing exceptional. The staff was very helpful when I need to print boarding passes for our flight out so no complaints. Not sure I would stay there again because the price was pretty steep for the accommodation.

Pros: Pillows, hard and soft, are provided
Cons: Replace Sofa by Fridge and disposable slippers. The free Internet for IHG members is very slow. It would be nice to provide free spring water.
Location: Right across the Zoo, but a little bit far from the city center.
We stayed for five nights. The room is usually quite.

Pros: Located close to airport but excellent access to public transport to city centre
Well located, staff helpful and free parking a bonus but no wifi was a big negative

Nice hotel handy for exploring Edinburgh.

Posted 01-Aug-2015
Pros: Very convenient and reasonably priced hotel. The pool was a bonus.
Cons: The food in the sampan restaurant was pricey.
Location: Right next door to Edinburgh zoo, hotel is on bus route to centre of Edinburgh, only a short trip.
Hotel was ideal for a short family break. Good location. The hotel was clean and the staff were helpful.

Good choice for families

Posted 25-Jul-2015
Cons: Wifi should be free, rooms with two double beds would be great, but this seems hard to find in Europe. General decor could use updating.
Next to zoo, on bus route into city, excellent free breakfast, kids eat free each meal, swimming pool.

Overnight stay with kids

Posted 14-Jul-2015
We stayed there for one night with 2 kids. We had a pleasant stay, the staff was very helpfull and the atmosphere was very friendly. Very convenient for visiting the zoo and as a base for Edinburgh. The nice surprise for us was the 2 single beds for our kids instead of the normal double sofa bed

Poor customer service - Avoiding Holiday Inns

Posted 11-Jul-2015
Pros: Good location
Cons: Snob attitude and not very friendly or helpful.
Location: It's west of the city center and next to the zoo.
I made the mistake of booking it for the wrong day(for the previous day). When I arrived and realized that I didn't have a room and had already paid for the previous night, I asked if there was any way I could get some credit or partial credit to use for another room. The lady at the front desk said if I could get Expedia on the phone, she might be able to do something. When I got Expedia to talk with her, she said there was nothing she could do and the reservation office was closed for the day. When I asked if there was anything she could do for me, she suggested I better call around the other hotels for a room because they were completely sold out. I asked if I could speak to a manager and she said that a manager couldn't help me, so I left. Expedia did follow up with the hotel's reservation person and she said there would be no refund of any kind. I'm glad it only cost me 1 night's stay to learn that I will never stay at another Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express again.

Wish I had known how busy it would be...

Posted 07-Jul-2015
Pros: Pool was nice and Lobby/bar eating are were well presented.
Cons: The comfort of my son's bed was far to hard (pull out settee bed) the mattress was only a couple of inches thick and you could feel the metal frame.
Arrived and check in was fine, found out after check in that there was an International Cricket event on. Spa and pool facilities were too busy for a sunday evening to use.
