Great hotel and atmosphere

Posted 07-May-2016
From the moment you walk in you can tell this is a different hotel experience. The lighting, music, and decor. Beverly att the front desk was very helpful at check-in, and quickly arranging a cab for us, since we had to get to the city center fast. Rooms are soothing and very quiet. My wife said their wasn't enough light to get ready, since you can't blow dry your hair in the bathroom. For me, I thought it was great. Rooms were exceptionally quiet. Very nice bar and restaurant area. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Overnight stay

Posted 19-Apr-2016
Pros: All mentioned above.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Not sure as we stayed in the Hotel.
Stayed overnight prior to flying from Edinburgh Airport early the following morning.I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the Hotel was and how efficient and pleasant the staff were. The following morning we were given a free taxi ride to the Airport , the young driver was very smartly dressed and a proper gentleman. One of the best Hotels we have stayed in.

Room was too hot

Posted 15-Mar-2016
Could not get the room temperature to go down on the first night but receptionist altered heat from behind the desk on second night. On the first night we discovered torn bed sheets which we pulled back, hoping the cleaning staff would change them for the second night, bed was just made back up.....which was disappointing. Told reception in the morning as we checked out

Che che style over substance

Are The Dakota trying to economise on the electric bills and if they require guests to provide their torches to provide light to get around the corridors & illuminate the rooms & find clothes in the inadequate wardrobe provision, perhaps they should advise on booking. £14 for breakfast is close to highway robbery! Unless one books six weeks in advance don't expect to get a table in the restaurant at a reasonable time, it's full of girls nights out. However, given the price of breakfast, perhaps one would be better served booking at one of the excellent restaurants in South Queensferry.
