Nice hotel

Lovely stay. Great family rooms, excellent bunk beds for kids. Location near to motorway but Pooley Bridge only 15 minutes away - lovely little village for walks by Ullswater lake.

Looks can be deceiving

Hotel looks a bit shabby from outside but really is lovely inside, staff lovely, room clean and comfortable. Nice welcome touches for the kids. Menu pricey and nothing for kids, had to eat elsewhere

Could be a very good hotel

Posted 24-Jul-2017
Pros: Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast
Cons: This COULD be a great hotel. Management and supervisors need to pay more attention to detail. Sorry, you need to try a bit harder.
Location: It's the Lake District. Whatever your interests it is a great area.
Many people will like this hotel. Spa facilities looked good, though we did not use them. It was hot during our one night stay and the room was hot and stuffy. Opening the window simply let in traffic noise from the adjacent motorway. Sleep was hard to come by. ( guests on the other side of the hotel probably fared better ) This hotel desperately needs air-conditioned rooms. There did not appear to be any ventilation in the enclosed bathroom - if there was, it was totally ineffective. In the early morning, noisy trolleys ferried dirty laundry to a waiting lorry, just outside our bedroom window. ( is there no proper service area ? ) Having been out all day leading up to our stay, and having had a good lunch, just before 7pm we wanted a light meal / snack but the coffee shop was closed and the restaurant could only offer us full meals or "you could have some bread and dipping oils". We ended up with room service - 2 sandwiches, 1 soup and two orange juices - £31 !! On a better note staff were friendly, breakfast was excellent with very helpful staff - who seemed to be very busy indeed and should perhaps have had extra staff on duty? The room was well appointed and clean

Like an average premier inn, but @£170 overpriced

Better than a travel-lodge, below a premier inn. Was very busy so ended up paying £170 which was ridiculous for this type of hotel. Would not want to spend more than c.£80 night.

Better than it looks from the road.

Literally just off the M6 J40 interchange, within walking distance of Penrith station. Very convenient. The exterior is reminiscent of Billy Butlin's finest, buttons this belies the interior, facilities and service. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Lovely place, bar is well over priced, £8.20 for a small glass of wine.

Nice hotel but v expensive food

Posted 30-Apr-2017
Pros: Comfortable room when it finally warmed up
Cons: The cost of food needs to be reduce or portions dramatically improved. Kitchen should be open later that 8:30 at night
Location: Penrith. Lots of restaurants. I would go there to eat.
Stayed one night with a number of colleagues in April 2017. One colleague had fish and chips and glass of wine £27! I had crusted pork loin on bed of potato. The portion was so small I was finished in about five mouthfuls and could not wait for breakfast! When mentioned to reception I was asked if I had been told the portion was small and was I offered any additional vegetables ( at around £3.50 per portion!). My answer was no. By the way the kitchen closes at 8:30PM. Window in room which was a deluxe room was open on arrival with heating turned off. It was actually snowing that day! All in all with a room cost of £148 and extremely high cost of food this hotel does not offer value for money
