Lives up to it's name.

Pros: The overall sense of understated grandeur. I felt I had been transported to an Agatha Christie film set. Lovely.
Cons: Some of the paintwork was a little shabby in places but the bilyding is old so only to ve expected really.
Location: Right on the sea front and we were lucky enough to gave a balcony with sea view. Lots to do in Brighton.
Lovely hotel, excellent staff and a great breakfast. Our overall stay felt very special even though we were only there for one night.

Beautiful hotel

Beautiful hotel. The staff are wonderful and very friendly. The room was lovely and very clean and comfortable. Hot on hot days but it's an old building. There was an air con unit in our bedroom. Maybe another or a more powerful one would have made less stuffy, I should have asked for another...... wonderful wonderful hotel. The restaurant was amazing. We had oysters, seafood platter with lobster......truelly amazing. We were looked after by Adam who is brilliant. Polite and charming. Will definitely be coming back :-)

Great room, great view

Posted 19-Jul-2016
Fantastic view from our great room which was large, light and airy. Staff were friendly and efficient. A pool would have been good and one of the areas breakfast was served it was large and impersonal. We had breakfast in the conservatory-like are at the front of the hotel, with sea views, which was great.

Classy Seafront Hotel

Posted 11-Jul-2016
Pros: Overall old-world class.
Cons: Bar Staff.
Location: i360, clubs, bars, restaurants, shopping.
Great experience from the moment you arrive. Very helpful valet parking and bell boys. We paid extra for a large sea view room, and it was huge. The only slight negative was the bar staff, who were not as friendly and helpful as the other staff. Hotel is almost opposite the i360 which should open soon, and is within an easy walk of the Lanes, and lots of shops, restaurants, bars and theatres. Parking is often difficult and expensive in Brighton, so the valet was reasonable value.

Great hotel with great attention to detail

Posted 01-Jul-2016
I came here with my son (3 year old) for a short break having done the same last year. We enjoyed the grand so much we stayed again. It didn't disappoint. Yes, Brighton has got very expensive in terms of hotel prices, but as it was mid week we got a great deal for bed and breakfast. The hotel is modern, clean and the staff are excellent from the guys on the door to the reception staff. Parking is £35 for 24 hours which is expensive, but not for Brighton. The rooms are really nice, kind of Victorian bathrooms meet modern bedrooms. Breakfast has a great selection of hot and cold and again, the staff were really Helpful, especially with my son. The best part for me is we were allowed to leave the car with the hotel after check out until 3 which meant we had a sort of extra day so my son could go and do the pier, beach etc again. Would recommend this hotel completely. It's just a we'll run place.

Would probably not stay here again

At £400/night for a hot, noisy room... Well we won't be going back. Breakfast was nice. But talk about failing to get value for money!
