Convenient location but a bit overpriced

Posted 23-May-2017
Given the price of the hotel, I was expecting it to be in far better condition than I found it! There was a cabinet in my bedroom which was really dusty and smelt - I wouldn't put any clothes in there if I wanted to wear them afterwards! The shower in the bathroom was really stiff and difficult to use. The staff were friendly however and the location is ideal - on the seafront and not too far away from the centre of town. Not worth the price though!

Very grand

Posted 20-May-2017
Pros: Very clean and nice atmosphere
Cons: Outside is being worked on . They need to put a sign or something up so you know that the hotel is behind all the ladders
Location: Right on the beach and great place to relax and listen to some music
Exceptional staff. The doorman had the best info for where to go

shame Expedia did not tell us to about scaffolding

Posted 19-May-2017
The hotel is beautiful and the grand staff great. I booked my expensive sea view with Expedia, they took my money then neglected to inform me our room would be covered in scaffolding so we could not even see the sky. They still have not bothered to contact me despite me complaining to them. SHAMEFUL.

Great staff, great food but tired in places

Posted 18-May-2017
Squeaky floorboards and banging fire doors plus a very small and tired looking gym. Staff and Food great. Just needs a bit more TLC in places but still worth a visit

Renovations!

Posted 15-May-2017
Beware! They don't bother to tell you when you book but this hotel is under renovation. The front is clad in scaffolding and sheeting so much so that you could easily drive past it without knowing it was there! There isn't even a sign up outside. If you were hoping for a seaview, or worse, paid for one, then you will be sadly disappointed. The Classic Double rooms are 'bijou' but adequate and beds are OK. Ours was quite noisy despite being located round the back. The buffet breakfast was very nice and the bar isn't too expensive and often has live music.

Building work May 2017

Posted 15-May-2017
Pros: Good nights sleep. Bathroom excellent
Cons: Communication that the site was under renovation. Internal room view disappointing.
Location: Good Food and drinks.
The internal comfort of the hotel was really good. Disappointed when arriving at the hotel there was scaffolding and plastic covering all over the building. Even with this the room had a very poor view of the fire escape making the stay very claustrophobic.

Disappointing room

Posted 22-Apr-2017
Our room was small, and had no mini bar, the plug in the bath didn't work. For the high nightly rate this was not value for money. I don't mind paying a lot for a room but expect something decent when I stay.

Special place

My 18 year old daughter and I love visiting Brighton and had always wanted to stay at the Grand . So much care is taken of the guests from the lovely doorman to the great fun barman . A beautiful place , excellent service - a real treat
