The Boship Lions Farm Hotel

"Nice hotel "
Hotel is an old farm, with converted stable buildings set on a large site with a lake and gardens, which are illuminated at night. There is an eclectic collection of statues in the grounds which made us laugh (golden hippos, life size giant Panda, and empires Quin's terracotta soldiers!) The rooms are quite large, but a little dated in their decor. It isn't The Ritz nor a brand new chain hotel, but it is clean, just in need of modernisation. Staff are friendly, but there weren't many on duty when we were there....Perhaps it was a quiet period? It is about a 10-15 minute drive from the beach at Eastbourne and it offers free parking, which is hard to come by in the area. I would return again.

"Hotel overlooking Brighton Marina"
We booked 3 double rooms - same basis; same price. One room was obviously upgraded and had lots of room and the other 2 had just enough room to walk between the end of the bed and the wall! Unfortunately, our stay coincided with the hottest September day(s) on record and without air-conditioning the heat was horrendous. The inclusion of a fan in the room confirms that this hotel gets hot during average temperatures. I understand the hotel is about to have a facelift which is to include the addition of air-con in the rooms? Too late for for us. We also ran out of toilet paper - we reckon we're just average users - I rang reception to see if we could have some more, please and, they turned up with one roll. I would suggest to the management that they have a place to keep a couple of spares so your guests don't have to make this request.

"Quality hotel in St Leonards."
Very friendly and welcoming hotel. Very well presented and maintained property. Our room was on the top floor (Room 7) but the climb was worth it as we had a wonderful view out over Warrior Square gardens and the sea looking towards Hastings Pier. Great quality breakfasts. Within walking distance of Hastings Pier (5 minutes) - well worth a visit, Hadtings (new) town ( 15 minutes) ant the old town (around 15 minutes). Excellent, frequent buses into Hastings if required. If arriving by train use the nearby St Leonards Warrior Square.

"Nice, peaceful hotel 30 min drive from Rye beach"
Staff was very friendly, food was delicious, hotel was cozy and nice. Our double room was extremely small, however very clean. As we stayed only 1 night, this was ok for us, but if you are staying for longer, my advise would be take a bigger room.

The Grand Brighton

"Lovely luxury hotel with a view to the sea."
Overall we enjoyed our stay at The Grand. However when we tried to book the restaurant on our first night they were fully booked and we found the lady at the restaurant reception quite abrupt and she did not offer any alternative. We sat in the afternoon tea room area that night and after asking the waiter if it was possible to have a meal in there he said he would ask the manager. A lady came to see us and said we could have a meal off the room service menu, which for us solved the problem. It was a pity we had to go all round the doors just to obtain a meal (we did not want a snack). As we were staying to celebrate my 60th birthday it was a bad start. We did find that the main desk receptionist was very distracted that night when we were asking to book for a meal the next night as it appeared that there was a wedding party that needed attention and she left us standing to resolve that. We eventually booked with the lady at the restaurant desk.We found the door men really helpful. The food was delicious.Continuing from improvements we choose to pay by cash or debit card and it appeared this was second best to using a credit card. Also the fact that we are so limited in this review to the characters we can use in the 'improved' and 'things to do' box.

We had a short, two night stay at the White Hart and only had breakfast at the hotel. The breakfast was very good and all the staff we met were pleasant and efficient. The hotel is steeped in history and is enjoyable to experience.
