Right on the seafront, conveniently located.

Pros: Location
Cons: There are some signs of deterioration, which should be addressed before it starts to look a bit jaded.
Location: Eastbourne is full of things to do - walking, fishing, shopping, good restaurants, theatres, etc.
Good breakfast, nice room, pleasant staff. The bar lacks any sort of atmosphere. Nice library, for a quiet drink, if you want to hide away.

Good position near the beach and town centre

Pros: The position and the friendly staff
Cons: We thought the furnishings in the lounge and bar area looked a bit 'tired'. Some of the seating in the conservatory area was really dirty.
Location: Nice walks along the beach, near the theatres, Sovereign Harbour and Beachy Head a short drive away.
We have stayed at this hotel before. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable.

Great location, overpriced, not worth the money

Me and my girlfriend had a short weekend holiday get away from London. We chose Eastbourne just to enjoy our two free days. I booked upgraded room with sea view in Cavendish Hotel expecting nice experience for both of us. On arrival reception staff was really officiant and friendly. For some reason in the room we got two separate single beds. Reception staff sorted that. Day time we didn't realised that we have no mini bar in the room and didn't bought any water from the shop. Water from the tap was horrible as expected and I came down to reception at 1am to buy some bottles of water, there was none available. Reception gave me a jug of "filtered water" the taste was same as from the tap. Morning shower was even worse. It took me a good 15 min to set shower water temperature and I really know how to use bath facilities. Last thing, there was no hair drier in the room as I was expecting to have in upgraded room. Overall room was clean but small details were badly missing.

Location: Close to the sea. Seven Sisters. Eastboure Pier...
The location of the hotel is very good. Just in front the sea and very close to town centre. I would recommend to go for the sea view room. The room was clean and spaceous. The staff at the restaurant was brilliant and the food was great. In contrast to this the reception team not very friendly. The housekeeping forgot to clean our room on one of the days and we had to phone the reception. Also the bed was not comfy at all.

Once great, now awful!

Pros: Location only.
Cons: Staff, facilities, decor.
As someone who grew up in Eastbourne, a lot of locals regard the Cavendish hotel in high esteem. This thought needs to be changed in the modern era. The greeting by front desk / concierge was rude and lack lustre. Staff members gave the impression that doing their job was effort and any small requests such as late checkout or a wake up call was beyond them, impossible and responded with disdain. The room's are grim, old, warm and a throw back to 1980's decor. There wasn't a hint of anything regarding menu's for room service and a minibar / fridge was non existent. If anyone hates stuffy warm rooms this would have been their nightmare! All rooms have poor ventilation and solved (barely) by a weak fan plus opening a window which is restricted by and inch. When asking for help / requests of the front desk the response was a long the lines of "do it yourself" I have never been to a hotel when asking for a taxi booking to expect the response "You can order it yourself". Even asking for a laundry bag seemed a stretch and I was asked "Why?". If you want a hotel which has a lovely facade, grand looking foyer, bar and hall this is great and for you. If you want the service you expect of a modern hotel, friendly staff, perks and the modern facilities then avoid this hotel and go else where.

Pros: The Decor and location was nice, the bar had friendly staff and was a nice area in which to sit.
Cons: The customer service of the reception and management. The second room we were upgraded to was clean, but very tired, worn and dated.
Location: The location is good, it is on the seafront, with the pier and some nice restaurants close by.
When we arrived, we enquired at reception about the parking and told the receptionist that we were parked on the seafront, and asked whether there was a permit required, or do we pay at the ticket machine. She told us that after 6pm parking is free, and all day Sunday. We were pleasantly surprised and she again told us that all day Sunday parking is free. IT'S NOT! We, and a lot of other people who ran out of breakfast in the morning when we all saw the parking attendant, got parking tickets. When we raised this with the manager, she couldn't care less and said we should have read the signs (which we would have done if we hadn't been told twice it was free) and there is nothing she can do, and as for the reception staff saying it's free that couldn't have been right as they've been here a couple of months and know it's not. THE MANAGER BASICALLY CALLED US LIARS! The "standard double" room we had booked was nothing more than a broom cupboard. These rooms have been thrown together very hastily and very cheaply. The small double bed almost touched all 4 walls. We went back to reception and had to pay £20 for a better room. It's the middle or February, there were several other rooms available. Next was the fire alarm going off at 3:40am. In the morning we were offered no apology or explanation as to why this happened. The breakfast was sub par. We've stayed here a few times before and it has been good, but they are now using very cheap, poor quality ingredients.

The Hotel was well furnished also quite modern. The staff were very helpful and I can imagine in the summer with the Hotel being on the seafront with doors open very pleasant.
