Enjoyed stay overall, only negative room was very cold and no radiator in bathroom made the temperature in the room in general uncomfortable

"A beautiful stately hotel, but a bit tired."
This is a majestic property in a good location not far from the M1. It has all the facilities but requires some major investment to bring it up to a high standard. The public areas are pleasant and the pool is nice enough - there is a little note to say that there is a new jacuzzi on order. Overall the hotel is adequate as it is and it was very busy when we stayed. The food is fairly good, staff are very friendly and welcoming. The room was fine for us, a family room with a double bed, a single and a put up bed and it was spacious. There was a tv in each room, tea, hot chocolate and biscuits too. The bathroom is very tired, although I believe it has been slightly updated, however it needs completely ripping out and redoing! Days of in consistent water temperature and a dangerously boiling hot tap ("only use the cold one"!!!) are no longer acceptable.

"perfect location"
Everything about the hotel was lovely. Unfortunately, when I entered the bathroom in the morning I didn't see, but felt water underfoot and found myself paddling to the sink. My pyjama bottoms and slippers were soaked and have had to be thrown away. We were checking out immediately so didn't want to make a fuss. Other than that we couldn't fault the hotel at all.

"Nice, but I expected better"
Room was big enough. and clean. Bed very comfortable. Bathroom was just about big enough to feel 'not too cramped'. I had breakfast included in my stay and that was disappointing. The spread available was less than I would expect for a 4* hotel. And it was FULLY self service. And with that I mean literally everything was self service. I even had to get my own cutlery and napkins! Tea and coffee also not served to the table.

"North east hotel"
We needed a local hotel to stay while attending a family function and as we had stayed with you before and had heared you'd had a make over the rest is history pleased with our stay our only criticism would be the lack of good lighting nearly went out and bought a torch the new l e d bulbs give out better illumination and probably cost less to run.

"Beautiful venue but let down by the food"
First impressions were wow! My room was amazing. Beds comfy. Great sized rooms. However the restaurant to me was somewhat disappointing. The food was just about ok, but overpriced for what it was. And I was eating alone when most others were dining as couples. Service was pretty slow. I had to ask for more bread as none was offered with the rather meagre starter. Then I was charged for 2 glasses of wine on my bill when I'd clearly only had had one. No apology was forthcoming and I had to wait a while before they came back with the revised bill with the additional glass of wine knocked off. I would have thought they shouldn't charge for the glass I had had personally, and certainly what's happen ended when I have been overcharged elsewhere. If I were the manager I'd be starting improvements in these areas as this would really improve the overall level of satisfaction. This is a beautiful hotel and I would stay again despite these issues.

"Beautiful hotel gorgeous food and wonderful staff"
We love Rockcliffe hall even though we only live 20 minutes away we love staying here !!! This was our 9th visit to the hotel and we are never dissapointed !!! The only thing I would say is that the garden suite should be complimentary when staying at the hotel !! £30 each for only 2 hours I think is a lot to Ask !!!!?? I wouldn't mind paying if it was unlimited use!!!! Apart from that everything was perfect as always !!!!!

"Great facilities and quiet location. "
Lovely grounds and great leisure facilities (golf, spa, swimming pool, beauty treatments, walks). Didn't eat dinner there, but the cooked breakfast was hot, tasty and nicely prepared. Double room in the main hotel was quiet. A little on the small side, but everything worked and it was clean and comfortable. The hotel is looking a little tired in some communal areas, but not enough to mark it down. We did get woken up by a fire alarm going off at 5:00am, but these things can happen anywhere. A convenient and lovely out of town location and a good price. We visit family in the area regularly, so we will be booking again. We enjoyed our short stay.
