"Good hotel for access to city - quiet at night"
Stayed after a wedding. Room fine - river view great! Lovely and quiet too. Bed comfy. Bar prices expensive. Good choice for buffet breakfast but would have preferred cooked to order.

"Gorgeous hotel with fabulous spa!"
Having eaten here a few years back, I was determined to return to stay! This is not a cheap place, and the pricing structure seems overly complicated, but the rooms are gorgeous and the spa facilities are excellent.

"Beautiful hotel in a wonderful setting "
Stayed for two nights, staff very friendly and accommodating. Hotel beautiful and clean. I had pre booked champagne for the room which wasn't there on arrival which was disappointing as it was a surprise for my partner. Breakfast very good and service excellent. There had been some work carried out on the bathroom door and the wood shavings were on the floor and the door, this was not cleaned whilst we stayed there. Would recommend this hotel

"Perfect special occasion venue."
A serene location to enjoy a friend's family celebrations. Food was tasty, staff friendly and room very comfortable. A lovely swimming pool and facilities with terrific gardens to walk around. On a positive, it was dog friendly, which is great but service was a bit slow in the evening when we ordered a bar snack.

"Brilliant location for visiting Beamish Museum."
Check in was very quick and simple and we booked a table for dinner at the same time. We were offered assistance with our luggage which was not required. After getting unpacked and making use of the tea/coffee room facilities we returned to reception for a more detailed explanation of the hotels facilities. A good idea not giving info. overload when you arrive! We went to the pub/ restaurant which is housed in the old stable block. Large semi enclosed outside seating area, all very nice.On site micro brewery can be viewed from this area and tours are available. Seven ales available and should be something for all tastes. Good choice of food at reasonable prices and very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast in the main building accompanied with discrete 50s and 60s popular music. Excellent choice including smoked haddock and kippers as a slightly more healthy option than the "Full Lancashire" ! Staff equally efficient and friendly as in the evening. Had considered going out to a local hostelry for an evening meal but with only a 3 night stay we still had plenty of choice on the menu. A very enjoyable stay and will try to get back.

"Brilliant little bolt hole and a gem at the price."
We stayed for just one night and only needed a bed to put the heads on. The hotel is an ex-RAF officers mess and has been restored to a lovely condition. Nothing too flash but warm, airy, comfortable and excellent value. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The food is good value too. Well worth a visit, if only to read the story of the place.

"Comfortable and very obliging hosts"
Very Comfortable room, very spacious. The Hosts could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Breakfast was exceptional and we were woken by the smell of freshly baked bread each morning. Will definitely be staying again. Very quiet location on a working farm. We were even followed down the drive by the young lambs one evening.

"Nice but expensive"
Hotel is set in amazing grounds and close to the local village which is good as the food is expensive in the hotel ( that is if you get food on your room a standard room cost is £139 but breakfast was not included) Room was good but bathroom extractor fan grill was well furred over indicating it dad been a long time since it was cleaned Overall a lovely place apart from a couple of minor niggles.

"Great facilities and quiet location. "
Lovely grounds and great leisure facilities (golf, spa, swimming pool, beauty treatments, walks). Didn't eat dinner there, but the cooked breakfast was hot, tasty and nicely prepared. Double room in the main hotel was quiet. A little on the small side, but everything worked and it was clean and comfortable. The hotel is looking a little tired in some communal areas, but not enough to mark it down. We did get woken up by a fire alarm going off at 5:00am, but these things can happen anywhere. A convenient and lovely out of town location and a good price. We visit family in the area regularly, so we will be booking again. We enjoyed our short stay.
