Stayed at this hotel on a Saturday night whilst visiting family in Darlington. Safe environment for single female traveler. Friendly and efficient check in, room spotless. The room was a little too warm for me and had trouble cooling it down. Breakfast excellent. WiFi that works. Dog friendly a real ...
The room was small but clean and the bed was comfortable. Hotel staff were fantastic, very friendly and accommodating
Hotel and staff were very very nice. Staff were child friendly. However the Pool times were a bit too restrictive for families with children. We traveled 4 hours as traffic was bad and out daughter was so upset that we got there as 6pm and kids were not allowed in pool then. Also it was a bit noisy ...
My second stay at Radisson Blu in Durham. Comfortable rooms and very quiet and just a short walk to the town center, castle and cathedral.
Large comfortable room with a nice view of the countryside. Dinner at the reasonably priced and very tasty (I ordered leg of lamb with mixed veggies). A very nice place...particularly liked the authentic zulu war shield with thrusting spear and club on the wall next to our table.
Could not fault the food or the staff they where very good the hotel and rooms where very clean. There was only a twin bedroom left when we booked and the beds where so uncomfortable that it let the rest of the hotel down would stay there again but would upgrade our room
Good WiFi is no longer a luxury demanded by only the most discerning of business travellers. It's now something that many guests expect as a matter of course when staying at a hotel, whether they are enjoying an adventurous family holiday or attending a conference from overseas. Whilst many of County Durham's hotels and guesthouses are located rurally, WiFi connectivity is generally very good, with many great hotels with Wi-Fi in Durham and the surrounding areas. The internet doesn't have to get in the way when you're travelling, and can be a great tool organising your trip.
The reason why internet is so good in County Durham is thanks largely to the Digital Durham initiative, which aims to provide the homes, business and hotels in the region with fast fibre broadband - achieving speeds above 24Mbps for most (more in the larger settlements). If you're travelling on business, it can be very frustrating reaching your accommodation and making the unfortunate discovery that local broadband is below par. When you visit County Durham, however, whether you're staying in a city like Darlington, or on the outskirts of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, WiFi is likely to be good quality and free to use, for example at the Jury's Inn Middlesbrough, which benefits from a city-centre location in easy reach of top attractions such as Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art.
While good internet is a must for business travellers, essential for firing off e-mails, contacting head office and organising meetings and conferences, the modern holidaymaker also benefits from good internet provision, using it to share photographs and keep tabs on social media, but also to research, organise and book great days outs. With so much to do in County Durham, from amazing woodland walks to fascinating museums and historic landmarks, the internet can be a great tool for hammering out an itinerary - and is even more useful when its free at the point of use! It's normal for County Durham Hotels to offer free WiFi internet, some examples include the Hall Garth Hotel and Country Club, set in 70 acres of parkland, and the Sportsman Hotel in Stockton-on-Tees.
