Best B & B place we have ever stayed
My wife and I spent one night at High View Guest House on 19 Oct after sending our daughter to Durham University. We drove the whole morning from Southampton and were quite exhausted when we reached Durham in late afternoon. We were glad to find warm welcome and hospitality at High View Guest House. The place is well maintained, clean and modern. Everything looks new, although we were told the place has been a B & B for three years.
Our Room No. 1 has a panorama view of Durham outskirts. My wife and I each enjoyed a hot bath. We asked for advice where to have dinner. The host told us about a decent restaurant near the railroad bridge. But we couldn't find it. We settled for fish and chips at The Cod Gather near Tesco, which turned out to be quite good. We had a very relaxing good sleep afterwards.
What awaited us the following morning was a big surprise: We were the only two guests in the house and we can choose our breakfast from a menu. Both of us went for a full English Breakfast, which was excellent. Our only regrets is that we could stay only one night. We had to leave for London after breakfast. But we intend to return to stay at the guest house when we come to visit our daughter at Durham next year.
