Durham Stay
We were initially given a room on the first floor, but on returning after going for a meal, we were asked to move, to a room on the ground floor. After five minutes we were asked to move again to the first floor, next to our original room!. The receptionist was very apologetic. We think the bathroom needs updating, it has a shower over the bath, but no hand rails, so getting in and out, can be difficult, as there is nothing to hold on to.

I'm sorry you had to move rooms a few times, we are busy training new staff on reception and sometimes mistakes happen. The hotel is going to be getting a full refurb in the coming weeks so I hope you come and visit us again to check out the new look and have a better experience of staying with us.

Excellent cost benefit
Cosy and comfy. Nice shower and the bed were great. Easy parking and very friendly staff. The only inconvenience was the fact that there was no sockets at all near the beds. Apart from that, everything was great. Excellent cost benefit. Would definitely come back, thank you so much :)

Clean and basic
Staff are all very polite, friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic but clean and have what you would expect. Ensuite, tv, kettle, tea and coffee, towels. The rooms are not big but adequate. The location is handy for the A1, Durham City and local ares.

Lovely staff, especially Grace.
Staff as always are very helpful and polite. The rooms are clean with fresh towels, tea and coffee making facilities and tv. The beds are comfortable. The only complaint is regarding the number of "homeless" people staying at the hotel who for the most part do not seem to respect the other paying guests by being noisy or causing the police to be called out in the early hours. I witnessed one man with 2 officers sitting on him in the reception area after being tasered for causing a scene. I have been staying at this hotel for a few months for business and would suggest that the hotel reviews their policy of allowing non-paying homeless to stay where paying guests are regularly disturbed.

Perfect for an overnight stop. Very nice clean comfortable room. Reception staff (Grace) very helpful. My dog was allowed in my room and there were very nice well kept grass areas to take him for a walk. I would definitely stay there again.

One small comment. Where the lock is fitted into the door there is a gap between the door & the frame. I could see out into the corridor so assume when I had the room light on someone could likely see me in the room. I took a photo.

The bathroom toilet was very dirty - asked for it to be cleaned and it was never done. Internet never worked - was told it is always like that it rarely ever works. This place requires a discussion with management.

Efficient check in Got to the room and saw it was very basic (Not a problem, we were there for a uni visit, and just needed somewhere to sleep) The room was very tired and dated. Hair on the bed, dusty surfaces and the cold tap in the bathroom didn’t work. (We had to use the bath tap to brush our teeth). Expensive at £123 for a twin room; you’re paying for the location.

Good but some communication issues
Overall stay was good but we received an email to say there had been a problem qith payment and to call them or the booking would be cancelled. I had to call 4 times to manage to speak to someone who would help. We were at a wedding and kept being hung up on on or asked to call back later. Eventually the last woman i spoke to took my payment and was very pleasant but took alot to get there. I will say our check in was completed by the cleaning lady who couldnr do enough to help us. She amended our room so we could check in early and was very friendly. I am unsure if they are short staffed and that is why there is not always someone on reception. The room itself was fine with good standard of cleanliness.

The room had the remaining odour of a smsker previously. Not permitted on site, clearly not monitored. The room also had spilt qater on the bedside table, lifting yhe laminate. The receptionist found me another room immediately, and was obliging.
