A false economy

Posted 26-Nov-2017
Pros: Nothing positive to report.
Cons: Everything. Especially room heating and quality of bedding and TV reception.
Location: It's close to the A1
Booked on the basis of deal offered on Expedia. Knew it would be basic but shocked by how bad it was. Room very cold. Was clean but pillows were horrible. Woken at unreasonably early hour by cleaners both mornings we were there. TV picture cut out every few seconds. Went to reception to enquire more than once. On each occasion the shutters were up. Wouldn't stay here again if it was free. Feel robbed and insulted.

Bed was very uncomfortable, cleanliness not great needs new carpets as they are grubby and a good deep clean and lick of paint wouldn't go a miss. No on site restaurant just Mcdonald which is not what we would class as a restaurant. Other than that staff really friendly and helpful

For what you pay, it is OK...

Posted 02-Aug-2017
Pros: It is cheap, but reasonably comfortable.
Cons: Check the smoke alarms for tampering.
Location: In the services premises, so easy to get to.
Very basic, but for a night stay, it is OK. The previous guest must have been a smoker (it was a non-smoking room), so I got the room changed... the smoke alarm had been tampered with. You get free parking by registering your car. Breakfast is at the services and you can get a discount coupon, which you have to purchase.

Motorway stop

Good overnight stop off the motorway. Only restaurant is MacDonald's, but this at least is open 24 hours and on site.

The first room I was given the window was jammed open. The wifi didn't work.

Good functional hotel

Had a great nights sleep here, very comfortable bed and quiet room. Room was clean but in need of updating but perfect for me for a single night stopover.

Good value for money

Posted 06-Jul-2017
Pros: Reception staff very pleasant and helpful.
Cons: The hotel selling breakfasts in the hotel rather than using other outlets.
Only stayed one night. Room was clean and functional. Not a lot to do as it is on a motorway service area but it was excellent for my purpose which was to get a good nights sleep and get on my way next morning. The hotel does not do breakfast but sells £10 vouchers at a cost of £7.50 and these can be used at outlets on the site. There is a McDonalds and a Costa coffee on site but Costa was a bit pricey for breakfast rolls on sausage and bacon. As an after thought I should have used McDonalds.
