Great value Durban

A good value hotel in Durban, was hard to find as the signage is nit great, the initial check in experience was a bit lacking. But the rest of the experience was good and the breakfast was great, bar staff very friendly.

Quick check in and the gentleman there made it easy. Even spoke to us in French! He suggested us restaurants within a walking distance. Room really well appointment and comfortable. Easy check out. Would go back in a heartbeat!

Great boutique hotel, rooms have a modern chic/funky decoration. Reception team are great and provide great advice about the city and area.

Loved the staff, the extras in the lobby, and Freedom Cafe. The courtyard, the tree, the awesome room with snazzy bathroom made me never want to leave the property. Loved our visit.

Could have been better

The Concierge has the character and charm you won't find in a regular hotel. The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable and the bathrooms have quirky glass shower cubicles, but.... 1. I had a room overlooking the carpark, while for the same price I could have had a room with a verandah and palm trees facing the road. 2. My room needed painting, the basin was cracked and the towels thread-bare. 3. Choose your breakfast carefully. I had a smallish bowl of sliced fruit with a blob of yoghurt. I asked for a poached egg to follow. "Oh no sir, that's two breakfasts. You'll have to pay extra!" I wasted my time by pointing out that as a single person I had to pay the bed & breakfast rate for two people, so was already paying for two breakfasts. 4. If you want pay your bill using an American Express credit card there is an extra charge for the privilege. [Is that allowed?] It wasn't a great experience, and if I do ever go back I'll take my own towels.
