"Great Historic Stay"
I thought it was so cool to stay in Castle and see the old historic way of life. The grounds are amazing and ever so peaceful sitting on the front lawn enjoying a beverage. Arriving home and reading the information sheet the hotel gave me on the background of Friars Carse into the 1500's, made me more so appreciative. Be sure to ask for it and read it during your stay.

Quirky hotel with lovely staff. We stayed here for 4 nights while traveling to the Commonwealth games and arriving late back was not a problem. All the antiques added atmosphere and the dogs were very friendly.

"Good quiet location"
We found the hotel with not too much trouble( we don't use satnav). Moffat is a lovely wee town with a very peaceful friendly feel. The hotel is very attractive with a fine established garden. The hosts are very attentive and phoned us earlier in the day to see if we required dinner in the hotel, which we refused as we weren't entirely certain when we'd be arriving. Breakfast was very good, although portion control seems to be fairly strictly adhered to, but all in all we enjoyed our stay

"Lovely stay! (and weather :P)"
This is a lovely small(ish) hotel if you fancy a weekend in the borders! The owner is very helpful and willing to offer advise for things to do in the area etc. Our room was very nice - comfy double bed etc. Plus a GOOD shower! (This is always important to me!) Nice breakfast in the morning too :) You can also choose to eat there in the evenings - we did this one evening and it was the nicest meal I had over the 3 nights we stayed for. I am a veggie, and although there were no options as such on the menu, I was able to talk to the chef who was more than happy to make me something and this meant I got to choose what I wanted! I would definitely go back, especially to see Oscar and Lily (the two dogs which belong to the hotel owner!)

"Steam Packet Inn"
Room was clean and suitable for our needs, great meal on an evening and great breakfast choice. The only thing that spoilt it was the inconsiderate people across from us who left their dog to bark incessantly and scratch the door whilst having their breakfast. We have dogs and think it is a great idea that this hotel is dog friendly, but if my dog was so distressed we would have took breakfast in turns. The owners did state whilst sitting down to breakfast that they were aware their dog was barking etc... But that they would leave it till they had eaten and boy did they take their time about it... The room had heating that we could control ourselves which of course is a bonus, plenty of branded teas and coffee available and a lovely touch of bottled water. For us it was a very welcomed break in an area that we have gravitated to for a very long time. We will be returning in the near future, without a doubt. Thank you for making us welcome.
