Right across from the train station, but quiet. A good location when you have a very early AM train to Glasgow or London. Comfortable bed. Unlike local B&B's, pretty much everything after your room is an add on (breakfast, newspaper, etc.) so keep in mind.
Friendly clean great reception area and easy to book in and out. Good evening meal selection and breakfast buffet lots if variety. Staff very courteous and helpful. Would use hotel again wgen in the area

Wonderful place. Full of history. Rooms huge ( biggest I have ever stayed in ) with lovely views. Plenty of space for parking. Lovely breakfast and host, Sally , went out of her way to ensure all aspects of our stay were great. Felt very much at home and would have loved to stay longer.
I stopped here overnight on my way to Sheffield, I am a single women travelling alone and Alison & Fraser could not have made me feel any more relaxed and safe. Only draw back the house is on a busy road and there is some traffic noise even with the window closed.
Highly recommended, this was a great place to stay. The people were friendly, food was amazing and the rooms were clean and nice with a homely feeling. Overall the hotel feels like home. Will be back if I visit again.
