Lovely hotel, minus the mattress for Room 1

Posted 02-May-2017
Pros: Location, ambience, the bathroom.....and I felt safe.
Cons: THE MATTRESS TO ROOM #1-- its needs to be upgraded.
Location: Near the Polce gate..so there are a ton of restaurants in the immediate area. You can't go wrong with the location.
With the exception of the mattress-- which I don't think has been changed out since the Middle Ages, I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Its a lovely little gem, right in the old town. A very kind porter met me at Polce gate upon my arrival and took me and my luggage to the hotel. There were lots of fun restaurants right in the plaza outside the hotel and it was lovely to sit outside and pple watch and eat great food. I'm a walker (and often a single traveler) so I loved the ease of the location of the hotel and the fact that everything was so walkable. It was beyond charming. My ONLY complaint (which I told the staff about) was the mattress. Despite the comfort of the room (LOVED the bathroom) and the size of the bed, the mattress to room #1 was horrible. I honestly don't know the last time it was upgraded. For a luxury hotel, I would have expected better. It was COMPLETELY concave on one side and tilted. I had to put pillows on the one side of the bed so I wouldn't roll over in to the hole. Needless to say I didn't sleep well. I told the staff, so hopefully they will make the needed changes. It was honestly one of the worst mattresses I've ever slept on. Also, be prepared for street noise at night. The old town is very compact and the hotel is small. I was on the first floor so, I could hear a lot of street noise. I've lived in London, so it didn't really phase me, but its just something to be aware of as rooms face the pedestrian street.

Great gem in old cask

Great and cozy small boutique hotel and excellent service from very friendly staff. Location is best in old cask, easy to get there by walking even with a big bag.

Perfect stay

Posted 22-Oct-2016 on Orbitz
Location: Everything is close :)
Everything is prefect! My only caution would be that the market starts at 6 every morning and will wake you up briefly as the locals set up. This is a double edged sowrd as it's annoying to be woken when tables are being moved in but to walk out the door or open the windows and see the lively market every morning really adds to the old world feel of Dubrovnik.

Fantastic location

Posted 02-Oct-2016
The hotel is situated in the centre of Dubrovnik old town just off from a lively square with a daily local market. The hotel car took us straight from the airport to the outer walls of the old town, to be greeted by hotel staff who took our bags to the hotel. An expensive transfer but the convenience made this worthwhile. The room was very clean and the hotel provided a lovely breakfast. The staff were all helpful and spoke very good English. The hotel had the use of a private beach a short walk away. Would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to make the most of exploring the old town and experience its wonderful atmosphere.

Central and characterful hotel

Posted 24-Sep-2016 on Hotels
The hotel's location in the heart of the old town could not be bettered. The allocated room (Room 5) was not great (dark, even with a window, noisy, slightly cramped and with an initial problem in the bathroom which was speedily resolved). The bed, however, was extremely comfortable. Halfway through my stay, the hotel upgraded the room to one which was very acceptable in every way. Very polite and efficient staff. Excellent breakfast.

Posted 18-Sep-2016
Pros: The location and the friendly helpful staff
A comfortable hotel that is convenient to nearby restaurants and sights in the Old Town. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was well furnished and bathroom was modern and clean. The hotel is housed in a building that is full of atmosphere. There is an onsite cafe serving a full breakfast. There is also an onsite restaurant that offers dinner with good food and efficient service by the staff.
