This hotel was recommended to us by a new friend. It was fantastic the view was amazing the breakfast was sumptuous I even had champagne every morning very spoilt. The bath products luxurious as was the bed. We didn't want to leave we enjoyed it so much. We were even lucky with the weather. The staff very friendly and interesting to talk to. If we ever go back the Excelsior is the only place we would stay.

Decent location if you have car or take public transportation, but far from old town.
Fantastic breakfast (one of the best compared to equivalent hotels in the coast of Croatia)
Room was small but practical, and very clean. However, disappointed that in low season and with few people staying at the hotel they did not give us a room facing the water (it would be an upgrade but again, with few people at the hotel and having stayed for 2 nights it was disappointing)

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel the staff are really friendly and the location is perfect for relaxing. The onsite travel agent was great for organising day trips to neighbouring islands and other tourist attractions. The only negative point I would raise is many of the restaurants close at the end of September.
I chose the Pucic Palace for a special anniversary 4-day break as we wanted to be in the Old Town itself. From the outset the staff were helpful. Immediately on booking they emailed to offer a car transfer from the airport - the price was about the same as a taxi arranged by the tour operator but additionally provided transfer of luggage to the hotel as no cars are allowed in old town area. We were also met at the town gate by a hotel staff member who escorted us to the hotel (a 5 minute walk), telling us a bit of Dubrovnik history on the way, which was a perfect introduction. Due to our early flight, our room wasn't ready on arrival but we were offered free refreshments while we waited. Our room wasn't large but was very comfortable and beautifully located overlooking Gjandulic Square and its colourful market and cafés. We had a minor misunderstanding on the first night over availability of room service, but this was swiftly and very satisfactorily resolved when I raised it with the reception staff. We only ate breakfasts in the hotel, choosing to try other restaurants in town for our other meals. The breakfasts were plentiful and good. Service was attentive without being intrusive; we felt that we were personally recognised (it's a small hotel so this is to be expected). On our return transfer to the airport, the driver stopped at a lovely viewpoint overlooking the city and took photos for us. A lovely stay at a lovely hotel.
I found the hotel to be quite charming and the all the services very good. Yet, it was the staff who really made the stay so enjoyable. I extended my stay by a day, largely because the hotel stay was so comfortable. The front desk/reception could not have been more accommodating, the restaurant service was very good and consistently so. The location was the absolute best if in fact you want to focus a lot of your time touring Old Town as I'm sure most people who come to Dubrovnik wish to do. I would stay here again without question or hesitation.

From the time of booking we were in communication with Marija about our stay. She was so helpful and welcoming before we had even arrived. Upon arrival she met us at the apartment to walk us through the facilities and give us some knowledge about the immediate area and town. Any queries we had throughout our stay she was there to help us out. I cannot thank her enough for making the whole Dubrovnik experience so amazing for my family!
