In a state of change

Posted 12-Oct-2016
Pros: Location, reception staff, room
Cons: View, service in restaurant, having to listen to the outrageous pomposity of some of the other guests (not the hotel's fault!)
Location: Very central
I only stayed one night so this can only be based on a brief business trip stay and there seemed to be construction work going on so not sure what the final thing will be like. The greeting was excellent from the reception staff and I was personally escorted to the room. The room was a reasonable size and nicely decorated. It was described as have a 'city view' which was rather misleading as the only window looked out on the rather ugly side of a building across the road. I arrived early so registered and went for breakfast in the Cellar restaurant. On the surface, it was impressive, but let down badly by poor service. I ordered toast - none arrived. My breakfast arrived so a reminded them about the toast. Waited a couple of minutes - no sign of the toast. Started my breakfast - which was not hot. Almost finished when the toast finally arrived. Good coffee and orange juice though... Good, central location for walking the city and so, taking all things into account, I would recommend The Merrion so long as they get some of the details worked out.

Luxury in the heart of Dublin

Posted 09-Oct-2016
We came to the Merrion as part of our 40th anniversary celebration and the experience has been wonderful! Because we arrived before check-in time, they offered to have us relax in the spa until our room was ready. The spa boasts a wonderful pool and steam room and we enjoyed all of the amenities and promptly fell asleep by the pool - never minding the wait for our room. I had let the hotel know that we were celebrating and upon arriving in our room we found lovely cupcakes and a happy anniversary message and bottle of complimentary wine - delicious! The staff is warm and friendly, the room service for breakfast was prompt and delicious and the overall experience is lovely.

The hotel and staff were exceptional. The room was very clean, comfortable and beautiful. The staff was exceptionally warm, service minded and professional. Everyone sincerely cared about our comfort. The restaurants were also excellent and breakfast, in particular, was excepitonal in terms of variety and quality.

Although the hotel was beautiful the room on the first floor felt like a basement and there was no view. Looked out parking lot and mechanicals

Best place to stay when in Dublin

Posted 18-Jul-2016
The hotel location is right in the heart of the city. The staff is super friendly and go out of their way to please. The room is spotless and I truly cannot say enough about the warmth and kindness of the staff. Two thumbs way up !!! PS Stop by the cellar bar and meet Eamonn the bartender who helped us navigate the city and treated us like royalty. The management truly knows the best people to hire and are on top of things.

Great location and fabulous hotel in Dublin

Posted 11-Jul-2016
Pros: It was everything I wanted in customer service, we felt very well looked after.
Location: Found melt in your mouth steak 3 mins walk away. Surprised how fab it was! brookwooddublin.com Highly recommend! Slightly pricey but worth it!!
We were looked after from the moment we arrived. There was always someone to help us find a taxi or recommend local dining. The room was incredibly comfortable. We overlooked the beautifully manicured gardens where a water feature gently lulled us into an afternoon nap on a couple of occasions. The Cellar Bar just an elevator ride away (but also accessibly from the road for friends meeting us) was a fantastic option for casual dining. The mussels served there were worth the trip to Dublin! We were out and about too often to partake of the spa or formal dining options but both looked wonderful when we managed to pass by. Overall I highly recommend the hotel. I would absolutely stay there again.
