Wonderful, centrally located hotel with so many features including the amazing spa. Helpful concierges and desk staff help getting around Dublin a breeze. Incredibly good breakfast and fabulous service. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Surprise

Posted 15-Nov-2016
Pros: The service
Cons: nothing
Location: great shopping area , close to Trinity and within walking distance to dining
Location close to shopping, dining, transportation. Very comfortable and gracious staff. Our granddaughter suggested the hotel. She is a student at Trinity and checked hotels for us. The Merrion is located on a quiet street around the corner to the main busy streets.

Wonderful service and such a comfortable room

Location: Great central location. It was the birthplace of the Duke of Wellington!!
I love, love love this hotel. This is the second time I have visited this year. My visit was too short! The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The rooms are comfortable and the beds are heavenly. I really enjoy eating at the cellar bar in the evening. The kippers for breakfast were amazing!

Luxury in the heart of Dublin

Posted 10-Nov-2016
We enjoyed three nights at the Merrion. The facilities are very comfortable , although building and renovation work is currently underway. The open turf fires in the public areas and warmth and efficiency of the staff are memorable aspects. We look forward to returning.

only issue was room was far too hot

Posted 08-Nov-2016
Location: Nearest hotel to finish of marathon All my supporters were welcome in the bar area afterwards inc 2 push chairs and 3 toddlers
we were only here 2 nights, first night realised that air con did not appear to work and room was far too warm. Next day ran marathon so other things on my mind, next night even hotter. So in fairness never reported it.

Excellent staff, friendly, and very helpful.

Location: Excellent location and amenities
The staff were all exceptional and made our stay extremely enjoyable. The standard of service we received was above and beyond what we have experienced in other hotels of a similar quality and we will definitely make the Merrion our first choice when we next visit Dublin. Without exception the staff were friendly and helpful and made our family feel like we were the only people staying in the hotel. A great hotel and staff!

In a state of change

Posted 12-Oct-2016
Pros: Location, reception staff, room
Cons: View, service in restaurant, having to listen to the outrageous pomposity of some of the other guests (not the hotel's fault!)
Location: Very central
I only stayed one night so this can only be based on a brief business trip stay and there seemed to be construction work going on so not sure what the final thing will be like. The greeting was excellent from the reception staff and I was personally escorted to the room. The room was a reasonable size and nicely decorated. It was described as have a 'city view' which was rather misleading as the only window looked out on the rather ugly side of a building across the road. I arrived early so registered and went for breakfast in the Cellar restaurant. On the surface, it was impressive, but let down badly by poor service. I ordered toast - none arrived. My breakfast arrived so a reminded them about the toast. Waited a couple of minutes - no sign of the toast. Started my breakfast - which was not hot. Almost finished when the toast finally arrived. Good coffee and orange juice though... Good, central location for walking the city and so, taking all things into account, I would recommend The Merrion so long as they get some of the details worked out.
