Good hotel, but watch the credit card holds.
Overall, the Jumeriah Creekside is good hotel. One main issue: Upon check-in, I was advised that a 1,000 AED (about $270ish US) credit card hold would be placed on my card - for incidentals. This was no big deal. Later that night I got an email notification from my CC company for that hold amount PLUS a second hold for an additional $6,000 AED (about $1,650ish US). I immediately went to the front desk to inquire. The staff told me that the representative that checked me made a mistake. The staff kindly removed the second hold - and they removed the initial $1,000 AED hold as well - as a good faith gesture - which I appreciated. Not a good way to start a "relaxing" vacation.
When I checked out, I asked how such a mistake could happen. I was told that more than likely, the additional hold was placed on the card because they thought the room was not paid-in-full. When a room is not paid-in-full, it is the hotel policy to place a hold on the card equivalent to the potential room charges. The thing is, we were paid-in-full months ago, and the guy at check-in new this. I know he was aware of it because we discussed it when we checked in.
While holds are not charges, many cards apply hold amounts towards your available credit limit. Make sure to double check any holds placed against your card by Jumeriah Creekside.
