Good location but little charm

Posted 22-Sep-2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Lobby Check out - attend to order of arrival, streamline check out.
I was disappointed in the sterile lobby and the inadequate check In/out space. In such a grand hotel , One would expect an inviting lobby with comfy chairs for sitting to enjoy the view, read or visit. The staff was friendly though there was a long wait and poor system for check out. Beds and towels lovely but bathroom small and poorly designed. Would qualify any recommendation I made.

Luxurious!

Posted 20-Sep-2017
Pros: Very luxurious. Beautiful decor. Great location.
Cons: We had some trouble with our thermostat, but we managed to stay warm with a space heater.
Location: Caught our tour bus right out front of the hotel. And we could walk to the nearby castle. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby.
We had a wonderful stay at the Empress. So close to the ferry dock, and a focal point for tours, etc. Had a little trouble with our thermostat, but the staff brought us a space heater and we were warm and cozy. Everyone was so nice. Great experience.

Mislead advertising

Posted 20-Sep-2017
We booked a reservation for Thursday, September 14 for 1 night. The room was booked through Expedia which advertised a large suite with a couch and living area. We were very excited to celebrate our anniversary and splurged on this room so we could enjoy the beautiful, new renovations of your hotel. Unfortunately, they put us in a very small room unlike the pictures shown in our original booking (they advised us that they had no available upgrades due to the conference for Canadian surgeons). I am writing to express my disappointment and mislead advertising on the room reservation. the room we booked differed immensely than the one we stayed in. Nonetheless, we made the best of our anniversary and enjoyed our stay with fairmont but I just wanted to express our experience and dissatisfaction with the room. We feel very let down by the mislead advertising in the pictures. If we would have known that we were staying in that particular small room we would not have booked. Kind regards Montana Anderson

Grand Hotel for sure

Posted 19-Sep-2017
Fantastic location, beautiful facility, great amenities Expensive but worth the cost PS don't let them put you in a noisy room if they are not fully booked and you paid top dollar

Disappointing and not worth the money

Posted 18-Sep-2017
This hotel was WAY over rated, staff was unfriendly and SLOWWW, people partied all night on our floor and staff did nothing, alarm was pulled in the middle of the night. Rooms are TINY and underwhelming for $400 a night. I'd never stay here again.

Centre of everything in Victoria

Posted 13-Sep-2017
Pros: Private patio and lounge are a must have. Free breakfasts, afternoon appetizers and evening dessert and what must be the best view of the harbour.
Cons: At this price point, unbelievable they don't offer free wifi. They gave us one free night for our upgrade
The Princess is an ageless gem. Right in the middle of everything you want to see and most things are walkable. Upscale hotel admittedly with an upscale price. We upgraded to get access to the private lounge and patio. Well worth the price of the upgrade. Rooms are smaller by North American standards but very well appointed and comfortable.

Thank you for the wonderful and detailed feedback. I am so pleased you enjoyed our Fairmont Gold lounge. The view from the rooftop is truly spectacular. We do offer complimentary wifi in our lobby, and to all of our Fairmont President Club members. There is no cost to enroll and you may do this within minutes online and enjoy a number of other benefits that are included in the program. We look forward to your return!
