"Great Getaway - will be memorable I promise! "
the recent stay at the quirky Clift hotel was just what we needed to breakthrough the hotel vanilla syndrome. The staff was very personable, the bed extremely comfortable and I am sad that we didn't have a chance to take a selfie in the BIG chair. Treat yourself and experience the mix of old and new at the Clift!

"Perfect location "
So we arrived a little early but decided to see if we could check in anyway. I asked the front desk woman if we could check in considering the time and she sarcastically responded with "that's what I'm doing, checking you in." I didn't quite like the attitude but the rest of my stay was great so I quickly forgot about that bad first impression. The hotel was very clean, quiet and centrally located within walking distance of Chinatown and Union Square. There room didn't have a microwave or a refrigerator but those things were minor. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.

This hotel is within a couple miles of everything, the room was clean and it was a nice place to stay for our short stay. The only negative was the sound of a emergency vehicle driving by all the time but you'll get that anywhere in the city. I would recommend this place if you need a decent place to stay where you'll feel safe and have a clean room.

"Good hotel in Downtown"
This is located almost at the Union square which is a great shopping area and the starting point of the cable car in SF. I stayed here for 6 days. Pros : 1) Great location - near downtown 2) Superb staff - very helpful and kind. Thanks to all of them 3) Clean rooms - even though its a old hotel the rooms are well mentioned. 4) Pretty decent breakfast. Cons : 1) The room s are a bit small so if u need more space its tough. 2) Noise in the night from the street behind can be disturbing. Overall its a good hotel with excellent staff !

"Set your expectations properly!"
The short version: Set your expectations! This is a great cheap **2 star hotel** in a bad, loud area, which can attract bad loud people in and around it. But the hotel can't control its area! Bathrooms are shared per floor. The wifi is VERY fast and reliable. The hotel is very inexpensive, about as cheap as you'll get in ANY city, let alone San Francisco. If you just need a place to sleep, it works. The room was clean and very well thought out (my bed had outlets and USB ports on the headboard). The area is loud, so ask for a quiet room on the top floor. There are shared bathrooms and showers which make morning/evening routines harder, but doable, you'll have to think it through and possible try other floors. The area is bad, probably one of the worst in San Francisco, but if you move quickly and don't interact with people you'll be fine. For a 2 star hotel, this is 4.5 stars, if that makes sense. I took 0.5 stars because I still think they can easily improve on some things. Such as putting up signs on the walls to direct where your room might be (ie, 400-420 rooms this way), putting up a mirror in the shower rooms, and in a bigger sense, rethinking the bathrooms to allow more than 2-3 toilets per floor.

"Pride at the Taylor"
This hotel was exactly what we expecting. The price was great for a very busy weekend in San Fran. It was clean and the staff was great. It is not a fancy place but it was a comfy bed and conveniently located in walking distance to most things. The noise level is what you would expect from being in a busy city...sirens, traffic and occasionally some loud people but nothing crazy. There was a mini fridge and microwave in our room but there are so many amazing restaurants within minutes.

"Terrific triton hotel"
This hotel was a really hipster super sick rock n roll eclectic in its aesthetic hotel. There was a legit art show on the mezzanine floor celebrating neodadaism as part of the San Francisco art festival. Loved the room. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Loved our stay here. Will stay again if I'm ever back.

"Decent Value near Chinatown and Financial District"
Decent hotel, though because it's so close to the Financial District, I had a somewhat challenging time finding meals nearby in the evening and on the weekend. Also, their "fitness center" consists only of 3 aerobic machines. Otherwise, it's perfectly adequate.

"Great hotel "
Great hotel with super friendly staff. Room was spacious with great amenities and decent breakfast included. Only concern was location - I didn't realise when I booked that it was near the Tenderloin area which I was advised isn't very nice, but as I was informed of this it wasn't an issue because I just made sure I took transport everywhere. The hotel offers shuttle services to all the main tourist locations as well as the airport so you really have nothing to be concerned about. All in all I had a great stay, my only wish is that I could've stayed longer as I only had one night so didn't really get to experience all the great things on offer.
