Adequate hotel, paying for the location

Posted 19-Jul-2017
Pros: the location, the bed was comfortable, the kitchenette well equipped, the gym likewise
Cons: the reception is unwelcoming and pokey, lack of maid service, free or at least discounted parking for guests
Hotel is well located for the PATH and easy access to Manhattan. On the plus side, the rooms are compact but reasonably comfortable, the gym well equipped, and the location good. On the downside the decor is tired, the reception has the feeling of a hostel rather than a hotel, the room air conditioning very noisy. There are a few little touches whereby the hotel is trying to make an effort, but a little more attention to the basics would be better. The lack of maid service on a daily basis as an example. The place is reasonably priced for its location but expensive for the quality of the hotel, and the extra $25 a day for parking is an unnecessary sting, especially as the adjacent public parking is exactly the same price

Unexpected

Posted 18-Jul-2017
It was a great price so we didnt expect much. But the Staff was great and so were the ammenities. My favorite thing was actually the little note cards around the room. They told what was available to the guest and why. It makes you feel good.

Condom wrapper

Posted 10-Jul-2017
We found a condom wrapper in our room and all I asked for was to have the room re cleaned. I didn't ask for a refund or new room. Just re cleaned. The manager told me since I was only staying two days they could not clean it. I could only get fresh towels. Me and my fiancé are trying to have children and she implied that it was ours. A condom wrapper is very unsanitary! And

Close to NYC

Posted 09-Jul-2017
Pros: friendly staff, price, location
Cons: Needs upgraded and cleaned a little better
Location: restaurants, shopping mall, rail to nyc, walkway on Hudson was nice. view of NYC was great,
We found the hotel to be old and slightly worn out. The room seemed cleaned but overall the hotel wasn't the nicest I've stayed in and it had a slightly odd odor. The hotel staff were all very nice and helpful. The time we were there the bathroom ceiling developed a leak, the ceiling fixture was full of water and the light eventually blew out, every time we turned on the light switch you could hear it bubbling and sizzling in the water. Kind of in nerving, we reported it and they said they would have maint look at it the next day but I thought it should have been an emergency since water and electricity don't go well together. The price however was good and it was close to everything we needed. The neighborhood seemed safe and we even walked from the hotel to the rail station to visit NYC and back in the dark and felt perfectly safe.

only 1 elevator is in function both guest and staff uses thesame elevator so when you're in a hurry it's either use the stairs or wait for the elevator forever.

Bare bones but clean with good location

Posted 03-Jul-2017
The IHG and Expedia websites do not publicize that this is an extended stay, i.e. room cleaning only if you stay 7 days or longer. Rooms are standard size. Kitchen is a plus. Only one functioning elevator and that one went down while we were there. Location is convenient and rooms are clean. Front desk staff was helpful. General manager was less helpful. If you can spend more than than the Candlewood rate you may want to stay at one of the other nearby hotels.

Smelly, old, lumpy mattress, dirty bathroom

Posted 26-May-2017
Pros: Nothing
Cons: "If you need to change your linen or towels, bring them to the Lobby in the laundry basket and we will replace them" REALLY??? Who came up with this?
Stayed 1 night out of 3 in the reservation and the place is quite a dump. Would not recommend at all

Very comfortable stay. Room was comfortable and clean. The actual bed was very hard so we were happy to get home to our own bed. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Would recommend and stay again if needed.
