Nice BB, attention to detail was appreciated very much by weary travelers.Karl was very welcoming . Like most English BB there was no lift and lots of stairs to your room but Karl helped with our bags.
Double glazed windows helped cut the noise coming in and out of the Dover port but great stop if on ferry next day as only 10 min max walk to terminal.
On arrival we were welcomed by a very friendly young lady on reception. After check in we were shown to our suite which was beautiful. We had a light lunch of sandwiches which were ok, in the bar area.
We had friends join us in the evening for a 3 course a la carte dinner which was superb. Our waiters were very knowledgable of the menu and took the time to explain the choices. The New Zealand wine comes highly recommend too!
After a good nights sleep in the comfortable bed we had a very nicely cooked English breakfast.
The Marquis is an expensive treat but well worth it.
The food is top class and what we liked was the portion size is just right.
We would highly recommend to friends and family and we look forward to a return visit.
Wedding in full swing on arrival, not a problem music finished at reasonable time.Check in easy.No information on Dover restaurants or facilities in reception, not even further afield in Kent. Staff gave misleading information for directions,a Tourist Info map would have sorted it. Room fine ,upgraded o Sea View. Shower and bath shabby, no water pressure. Great views.

The owner was a character ! unsure at times how to take his sense of humour , perhaps he was being serious ? i felt like id asked for the world when i ordered 2 boiled eggs ! i was frightened to ask for more butter for the toast ! certainly not the normal manner of a guest house but I guess that's what give Guest houses their character !

Famed for its iconic white cliffs, Dover is a major ferry port on the English Channel. The castle sits upon the steep, chalk face and is a great family destination, offering exciting medieval entertainment and winding tunnels to explore. Calais is visible from the pebbled Dover Beach on a clear day - an ideal spot to sit and watch the boats come in.
