Great hotel, a bit disappointing this time!

I love this hotel and everything about it, the location, the staff, the cleanliness, and stay here every time I go to Dover but I went with my parents this time around and requested (and hotel confirmed) a 3 bed room, and got a Family Room with one big bed and a pull out couch. Had to go to reception to ask for the couch bed to be made and both nights were a nightmare! Pillows were as thin as paper and the "mattress" on the couch was uneven, had things sticking out that forced me to sleep in the left third of the bed almost falling off... didn't rest at all. Think this should be clarified when requesting and promising a 3 bed room, or change your pull out couches if you will be selling that as a bed! Will still be recommending this hotel to friends that visit Dover :)

Lovely hotel, great location

Stayed the night before catching an early ferry. This was perfect for this with a lovely view from the room.

Only good for location - otherwise avoid

I usually have to go through a very bad time to rate a place poorly. Our stay at the Best Western Dover was regrettable since we found the staff inexperienced and unhelpful when we encountered problems. One was that the hot water ran only through the faucet and not the showerhead so we had to take a either a cold shower, or sitting down to get hot water. Two, heater did not work. Luckily it wasn't so chilly out to go through much cold indoors, yet still late at night it would have been nice. The floors are slanted and that's just the way the hotel is built; somewhat dizzying. Lastly, beds very small and tv setup was so bad on the wall and close to beds it was nearly impossible to walk by withhout bumping your arm into it. The hotel does have a decent lobby for a drink and ambience is not bad. Food was unfortunately terrible too, had a nicoise salad with probably frozen tuna heated in a microwave. If you have a choice, stay clear of this place.

The bed had bugs crawling in it

I settled into my room and found bugs crawling under my pillow. They swapped rooms for me pretty quickly but in the swap I got downgraded to a smaller room and smaller bed. So I paid for an executive room and got downgraded because it had bugs in it. They didn't seem to care at all about my experience of the hotel. Avoid at all costs in my opinion.
