OK/pleasant enough, but no great shakes.

Supposedly a standard double room with 'king'-size bed, but the bed was smaller (ie less wide) than our queen-size divan at home! (Suspect this was probably one of the cheaper, 'small double' rooms.) Also only one chair provided. Would have rated room comfort higher if bed had been bigger, as it was supposed to be.
Bathroom adequate but no window/s, and basin not very practical.
Window (traditional 'sash' cord type windows) glazing in main bedroom apparently only single, though it didn't cause us any problems.
Given the building is supposed to have had a £4m or so refurb. five years ago, it was surprising that a main stairway was badly sloping/not level, and some flooring also, eg causing the wardrobe doors to fall open if not clicked shut. Also several signs of deteriorated decor.
Breakfast adequate, but far from the best we have enjoyed in four-star hotels, with some juices not replenished and generally poor choice of cold items. Bacon fairly thickly sliced, rather than thin rashers.
On the plus side, good location, handy though small lift, and friendly, attentive service. Pleasant bar and restaurant, though we only had a bar snack and didn't eat dinner in the restaurant. (Sandwiches provided to our request, even though after normal serving time.)
