Great location, hardworking staff but ran badly

Posted 21-Apr-2018
Restaurant/beach bar short staffed, Beach club outdoor bar not open even though the hottest day of the year, kids outdoor play area had bird muck all over, as did our sea view balcony. Got charged £10 for parking in the hotel car park. Staff are friendly and doing their best but appears to be be a lack of direction. Fabric of hotel is poor. Brilliant location and with some investment and leadership this place could be amazing

Excellent Location, Disappointing Service.

Posted 12-Apr-2018
Pros: Location.
Cons: Better dining room staff, better dinner menu with more selection.
Service was disappointing. Several dining room staff speak very little English and have no idea or authority to deal with any request even slightly out of the ordinary. They gave the impression that they are minimum wage staff and need a lot more training (and English!). Dinner: fixed menu for adults disappointing with very little choice (only 3 options per course, no a la carte), but good wine menu and good kids buffet. Radiators in both our rooms were cold and needed "bleeding". It took 2½hrs and three requests to Reception to get the engineer to come up. Pity, the location is excellent but the hotel needs updating, everything looks very old. The prices are too high for a hotel that is 3* at best.

Rude front of house staff, dated hotel, overpriced

Posted 02-Mar-2018
Prior to my stay, I called the hotel to confirm my bill could be split with separate hotel and breakfast rate for tax purposes and was assured the hotel could do this. Upon arrival I was told I was wrong they can't do this and it wasn't their problem that I'd been told that. I said I would've cancelled the room had I known and would be happy to book in somewhere else if they couldn't provide me with a breakdown of costs - a simple and easy task. The girl on the desk seemed to relent, sensing my resolve and told me they would provide a full breakdown on check out. The rest of my stay was disappointing, my room was freezing, the decor was shabby and dated, my 'double' bed was in fact two singles pushed together, the corridor had a strong almost overpowering smell of fresh paint and a very poor selection on the room service menu. When I came to check out the following morning I was met with another, equally unhelpful receptionist who wouldn't provide me with the simple breakdown I was promised. Definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel, extremely overpriced for the level of service and standard of accommodation provided.

Great location, cosy room and roomy bar. Clean and buffet breakfast was very good. Good views from rooms in the seaside and verlooking pool harbour. Outside needs a refurbishment, staff on check in we’re sullen.

Good location,

Pros: Location and friendly helpful staff.
Cons: Temperature of the lounge in winter! It is probably wonderful in Summer.
Exccellent service from pleasant staff. Did not expect to pay for parking, lounge area not warm in winter with many doors open! Wonderful views from the rooms either the sea or of Poole harbour.

Great location but...

Posted 15-Feb-2018
Pros: Good location.
Cons: Staff, decor cleanliness in public areas.
Disappointing visit. When the receptionist is to engrossed in texting to greet you on arrival it summed the place up really. Going through the motions and no attention to detail such as clearing tables in the bar or cleaning the carpets in communal areas it all just looked well shabby.
