the inside belies the outside.

Posted 11-Oct-2016
on approach, the hotel is not in the best of state , with flaking paintwork & a huge skip of doscarded chairs etc below and also the waste bins noin discreetly placed. However from the inside..everything is excellent. we stayed in the deluxe room with balcony and sea view. Again..unfortunately, we were pretty much above the large skip, so the view below was poor ..but obvoiously the look out to sandbanks literally across the road was wonderful . The room itself was excellent, can't l knock it.

A very relaxing few days in Sandbanks

Posted 26-Sep-2016
Pros: We loved the location and the sea views. We also liked the excellent service at both breakfast and dinner.
Cons: One or two parts of the hotel are starting to show their age but there was nothing of any real significance
Location: A large area of Dorset is easily accessible from Sandbanks/Poole. There are a number of National Trust properties within less than a 1 hour drive.
The best thing about the hotel is undoubtedly its location. It is virtually on the beach and has sea views from rooms at the rear and harbour views from rooms at the front. We chose this hotel because my wife currently has limited mobility and wanted a room with a sea view and a balcony. What the Sandbanks Hotel provided suited us ideally. The staff were, without exception, very friendly, helpful and efficient. The food was good and the service excellent. The hotel is 'getting on in years' and is showing its age very slightly but in no way did this detract from our enjoyable 6 night stay. We will certainly return in the future and will have no hesitation about recommending it to friends,.

Peaceful retreat

Posted 20-Sep-2016
Pros: Good breakfast.
Cons: The staff, though helpful, could be more formal, willing and poised, up to the status of the hotel. It would complete the experience.
A former glory in a peaceful seaside setting. So like an Agatha Christie move. Spent some beautiful days listening to the soft waves.

Run Down

Posted 08-Sep-2016
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: A complete makeover.
The outside of the hotel is shabby and the rest of the facilities lived down to that first impression. The carpets in the rooms were badly stained, the sloping roof below our sea view balcony was covered in litter, there were no dressing gowns, etc. Definitely a tired hotel desperately in need of some care and attention.

Location good. Staff awful.

Posted 20-Aug-2016
The staff are awful. They are under qualified. They don't care. And neither does the hotel. We spoke with other guests all saying the same thing. Staff laughable. Location excellent. They were rude, slow and made mistakes. Never been to a place like it.

Nice location but in need of modernising

Posted 14-Aug-2016
This hotel is in a great spot, right on the beach with a beach terrace and bar. The only negative is the state of the interior, its stuck in the 50's and by that I mean it looks like is hasn't had any decoration done since then. I have still booked it for next year though due to the location.

Nice hotel next to beach.

Posted 02-Aug-2016
Pros: Great location for great beach.. Easy parking. Great frontage onto beach. Some Rooms on back actually have view of Poole Harbour. Nice buffet breakfas
Cons: Serving facility/bar on Patio blocking Sea View from restaurant. Patio area not clean after function. Chinese Rest - food fine. Service grumpy
Location: Sandbanks Beach on the doorstep literally. Poole Harbour. Poole front short drive away. Ferry to Studland Beach and Old Harry Rocks very close by.
plenty of younger children around as obviously a holiday hotel - so quite noisy at times. Good breakfast. Main restaurant food fine plus a suprise po-up Chinese restaurant

Good location overlooking harbour and by the beach

Posted 01-Aug-2016
Pros: The terrace at the back overlooking the beach was the best thing about the Sandbanks Hotel.
Cons: The bar outside on the terrace where food is served needs to be open past 8.30pm as we werent given any warning when it was closing.
Location: Beautiful location on Sandbanks road but we were very disappointed with the lack of bars, restaurants or cafes nearby.
For what we had paid for our two night stay and as it was a 4 star hotel we were expecting a lot more. The room was very disappointing, the bathroom very basic. The hotel seemed tired and old.
