Great location overlooking Torbay

Posted 09-Feb-2017
Pros: Excellent location, bar with fantastic picture window. Parking facilities
Cons: There are signs that the hotel needs refreshing. I believe that a refurbishment maybe planned
Had a great room overlooking the bay. A room overlooking the back would not be so good.

Excellent hotel with incredible views

Posted 31-Dec-2016
Excellent hotel, very polite and helpful staff. Short walking distance to the shops and restaurants. And for all of you Agatha Christie fans out there, it's on the Agatha Christie Mile as well as being minutes away from Torquay museum with the Christie wing. Location is very romantic and really recommend for couples.

Great location for Torquay, awesome bay views

Posted 19-Dec-2016
Pros: The views, bar and lounge, excellent breakfast
Cons: The bedrooms and bathrooms are very tired and need refurbishing
Location: Right next to the Living coast, 5 minutes walk from Torquay town centre and half a dozen decent restaurants
The Imperial has the potential to be an outstanding hotel and I hope the new owners will invest money and imagination into making it as good as it can and should be. For now although the rooms are dated and tired the Imperial just about gets away with being a hotel I'd recommend. The views from the main bar and the sea facing rooms are fantastic as the hotel is perched on the hill near to the town and right next to the Living Coast.

Tired & in need of updating

Posted 16-Dec-2016
Our room was specious though dowdy and rather dark. Old fashioned decoration in desperate need of updating. Duvet and pillows synthetic and uncomfortable. Parking should not be charged as an extra.

Standard room = box room

Posted 14-Nov-2016
Pros: Breakfast. View from restaurant.
Cons: Most of it. See review.
Location: The location is fine, no better or worse than the majority of other hotels in Torquay. The view from restaurant is nice.
We had a standard room which was tiny with a view of the car park through a tiny window. I have stayed in a suite in this hotel years ago and it was nice, not convinced it warrants the cost though. But if you're only able to get a standard room save your money and get a much larger room for half the price in the Travelodge! The walls were covered in marks and the furniture was dated and cheap. We received a wake up call at 5am which we never asked for so that wasn't great especially as it woke the baby. There is never any answer from reception when you call them, we had to physically go down each time. I didn't once see a receptionist present at the front desk, you have to stand there and wait for them to come from the office behind. The hallways are dated and damaged. Additional parking fee is a rip off and on a Saturday evening you're unlikely to even get a space. The only positive I do have about this hotel is the breakfast and the view from the restaurant both of which are lovely. However the dining room could do with a bit of updating.
