convenient for family gathering

Posted 18-May-2016
Pros: convenience
Location: Excellent location for Quayside and city centre. Exeter is a lovely city!
I have used St Andrews many time in the past few years as it provides accommodation close to family when we all get together. It serves its purpose as a comfortable sleepover and a reasonable breakfast. Some of the rooms are quite small and the single rooms on the side are not particularly inviting, but this time we had one of the bay window rooms on the front which is bigger and better. Traffic noise can be a problem in the summer, but at this time of year we had all the windows shut, so it was less so.

Lovely hotel, generous breakfast and well positioned as it's only a short walk to the city centre and some very good restaurants

Lovely B&B

Posted 07-Feb-2016 on Hotels
We stayed one night at this B&B in Exeter. It was around 10 minutes from the M5 and easy to find. We arrived early, and our room was ready. It was a good size, with a shower ensuite, which was clean and functional. The shower hose was coming apart, but this did not affect the use of the shower. We found the bed a little hard for our liking, but everything was clean. The hostess tray was well stocked, and even had hot chocolate. The breakfast was very nice. There was plenty of parking, and we found it was about a 10 minute walk to Exeter Quay. Would recommend.

Honestly priced -on Line booking very easily done. Impeccable cleanliness ( And I am very fussy about that!) I am Ok with the small size of the single room, but the single bed was a let-down: a little too small for my size and sort of noisy when I was turning in it. The poly cotton should really be replaced by standard hotel grade cotton. I also found that I could hear next door conversation: They were not noisy people, so the noise level was not above what it is supposed to be. Breakfast was excellent, and materialised in front of me in no time thanks to the lovely and diligent waitress.

Good bed,great breakfast.

A two night stay for my fiance and I. We both found the hotel and our room very clean. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in. The bathroom was very clean with instant hot water. The breakfast was excellent as was the service from the staff. It is such a pity that the hotel is not open at Christmas.we would definitely recommend it and would definitely stay there again. The location is not far from the city centre and the parking at the hotel was sufficient. As a lot of other hotels in the area don't have any on site parking.

Lovely hotel

We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. It was clean tidy and comfortable. Yes the hotel is situated on a busy main road but the windows were doubled glazed so the noise was reduced. Breakfast was lovely. Served quickly and the staff were very helpful. The hotel is close to Exeter City centre so useful for a city break

Average hotel

The hotel room we were given was very clean but quite 'tired'. The bathroom in particular was old and needs refurbishment - the shower was next to useless as it was freezing cold most of the time, then suddenly scalding hot! The main hotel dining room and toilets were fine. The breakfast and service was very good (apart from underdone poached eggs).

Business overnight

Posted 01-Sep-2015 on Hotels
Stayed one night on business trip to the city. I'm a regular visitor to the area and usually stay at a hotel outside of town but the St. Andrews hotel came up at the same price when I couldn't book my usual hotel. It's a friendly small hotel right on one of the main roads that feed out of the city and is close to the quay area where there a lots of pubs and restaurants. Check in was smooth and friendly and breakfast was quick and very tasty. The only thing that let the place down was the noise from other rooms and that the bed was slightly too hard for me.
