Honestly priced -on Line booking very easily done. Impeccable cleanliness ( And I am very fussy about that!) I am Ok with the small size of the single room, but the single bed was a let-down: a little too small for my size and sort of noisy when I was turning in it. The poly cotton should really be replaced by standard hotel grade cotton. I also found that I could hear next door conversation: They were not noisy people, so the noise level was not above what it is supposed to be. Breakfast was excellent, and materialised in front of me in no time thanks to the lovely and diligent waitress.

A two night stay for my fiance and I. We both found the hotel and our room very clean. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in. The bathroom was very clean with instant hot water. The breakfast was excellent as was the service from the staff. It is such a pity that the hotel is not open at Christmas.we would definitely recommend it and would definitely stay there again. The location is not far from the city centre and the parking at the hotel was sufficient. As a lot of other hotels in the area don't have any on site parking.

Lovely hotel

We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. It was clean tidy and comfortable. Yes the hotel is situated on a busy main road but the windows were doubled glazed so the noise was reduced. Breakfast was lovely. Served quickly and the staff were very helpful. The hotel is close to Exeter City centre so useful for a city break

Average hotel

The hotel room we were given was very clean but quite 'tired'. The bathroom in particular was old and needs refurbishment - the shower was next to useless as it was freezing cold most of the time, then suddenly scalding hot! The main hotel dining room and toilets were fine. The breakfast and service was very good (apart from underdone poached eggs).

Business overnight

Posted 01-Sep-2015 on Hotels
Stayed one night on business trip to the city. I'm a regular visitor to the area and usually stay at a hotel outside of town but the St. Andrews hotel came up at the same price when I couldn't book my usual hotel. It's a friendly small hotel right on one of the main roads that feed out of the city and is close to the quay area where there a lots of pubs and restaurants. Check in was smooth and friendly and breakfast was quick and very tasty. The only thing that let the place down was the noise from other rooms and that the bed was slightly too hard for me.

Countryside dwellers

Generally the hotel was fine, staff very helpful etc. I have scored low on room comfort & neighbourhood - as the hotel is on a busy main road, which I hadn't realised when booking, it seemed to have traffic all through the night; it was hot & stuffy when we were there & the only way to get any ventilation was open the window - a bit of a dilemma. I realise traffic noise may not bother a lot of people - Exeter is a city after all, but we live in a reasonably quiet area, so it kept me awake. I would ask for a room at the back of the hotel & happily stay again.

One night stopover

Posted 21-Aug-2015
Pros: Friendly and welcoming staff, particularly at breakfast.
Cons: Twin Room was a little small and a bit warm with the window closed to keep the street noise out.
Location: Didn't explore much, wandered down to Frankie & Bennys and Chiquitas, both were packed on a Friday night
Had booked the hotel to break up a long journey down to Cornwall. Easy to find and ok location. Nice friendly staff and good breakfast
