Good Hotel with Interesting History
The hotel is a Grade II listed building, which has many original features and has been updated to reflect its history.
The hotel is full of medieval style pictures, tapestries, suits of armour and other ornaments which make it very enjoyable just to walk around. Dogs are allowed in the bar and there is a selection of board games (and suitable tables) to entertain children. The food in both the bar and restaurant is excellent and the service very good. The rooms were very comfortable with large four poster beds and a dressing room, but with very modern bathrooms - a huge roll top bath and a walk-in shower, so suitable for all! The building is very old and so some of the floors and walls are a little uneven, but it all adds to the charm. The whole building creaks, but at night it is absolutely silent with no residual light from neighbouring properties and so we all got a good night's sleep.
