Character Inn within quiet location

Posted 05-Oct-2015 on Hotels
A charming Inn with character and atmosphere. The fourth time we have stayed here; we just love coming back. Close to the South Devon Coastal Footpath and within walking distance to Brixham , Berry Head , Goodrington and Paignton.

Suits of armour galore!

Posted 19-Sep-2015 on Hotels
Interesting ancient old inn. Service was good but our room was probably the smallest in the place. Four poster bed left no room for anything else much. Bathroom good. Breakfasts good. Restaurant food good, bar food good. We felt the lack of a proper lounge space - only seating was in the bar area which got rather crowded and noisy in the evenings.

Good Hotel with Interesting History

Posted 31-Jul-2015
Pros: The warm welcome from the staff, the food (bar and restaurant) and the general ambience.
Cons: It was difficult to get the TVs to work and no BBC at all.
Location: The hotel is set in a village, next to the church. We visited Greenways (National Trust), Slapton Sands and Totnes - all by car.
The hotel is a Grade II listed building, which has many original features and has been updated to reflect its history. The hotel is full of medieval style pictures, tapestries, suits of armour and other ornaments which make it very enjoyable just to walk around. Dogs are allowed in the bar and there is a selection of board games (and suitable tables) to entertain children. The food in both the bar and restaurant is excellent and the service very good. The rooms were very comfortable with large four poster beds and a dressing room, but with very modern bathrooms - a huge roll top bath and a walk-in shower, so suitable for all! The building is very old and so some of the floors and walls are a little uneven, but it all adds to the charm. The whole building creaks, but at night it is absolutely silent with no residual light from neighbouring properties and so we all got a good night's sleep.

Not too bad.

A very quaint old building. The staff were friendly enough but it could do with a bit of updating and some more attention to detail. Decent value for money.

Great location

This was our third time at Churston Court Hotel ! Location is very good for visiting Brixham and other interesting places. The staff where very friendly and food good. Room and bathroom kept very clean and beds comfy. The only moan I have is that other guests coming back late at night need to be consideret to the guests who are in bed ,found people made a lot of noise late at night .
