Lovely spa facilities, hotel rooms very clean and comfortable. Outside could do with a facelift though. All of the staff were incredibly helpful & friendly and the stay was excellent value.

The grounds are lovely. Hotel a little tired. Updating required. Room was cold and took ages to heat up. Was disappointed that we couldn’t swim at 8am due to it not being family friendly at that time.

The rooms needed upgrading as they were tired. The beds were not very comfortable. We arrived in the dark and it was raining and the signage indicating where the reception was was non existant.

Fantastic stay! They were really helpful and accommodating! Huge thank you to the gentleman on reception (I didn’t catch him name) but he was so kind and made sure my stay was the best! Would definitely recommend and would 100% stay again.

Very quiet place
Firstly the postcode didn’t take us to the hotel it took us to the middle of nowhere. The rooms could be cleaner and so could the dining area. It was however a very quiet peaceful place and the bed was comfortable.

Lovely Location, Service and Food
Only complaint from me were other guests, trying to sleep at 22:30 and noisy neighbours both sides. This is not the hotels fault, should we not expect others to behave how we would!

The bathroom was tired and needs upgrading. The shower in the bath was difficult to access because of our age. Although we were there for a three night stay the towels were not changed and when we questioned this at reception we were told they are only changed if requested and there was a problem with staff shortage. The waste bin was not emptied for the whole stay although it was full and the cups/coffee/ tea were not replaced. We expected much better for the price we paid.

The hotel is a little tired in places most noticeably in the spa which was not particularly clean and littered with cups/ bottles etc in both the changing room pms & the public areas. This was disappointing as simple to resolve.

I really wanted to give this a glowing review as there was much to like, however overall my experience was terrible. I stayed off season, but breakfast is not served until 7.30am during weekdays, which was too late as I had to be out by then, making it virtually useless for anyone who is working. However the hotel were very accommodating and credited my breakfast against the evening meal. The evening meal was very pleasant but as the restaurant was busy (Pancake Day) it was slow. The room on the lowest level (107) was cold. It had night storage heaters so I presumed it would warm up but it didn't. Again not a massive issue as I would prefer to be cool than too hot. However my shower was a non existent drip. When I got up in the morning at 6.30 for a shower it was not possible as there was no water. I was told the borehole had dried up but this really left me disappointed. I discussed this with reception and as it was early they took it away to deal with it. They offered a full refund which was agreeable, however over a week later I have checked Expedia and my Credit Card and there is no credit applied, so I have been left feeling let down again. I have tried calling and emailing to resolve without any luck. I need to stay in South Devon every month for the next 15 months but I will have to look for somewhere that can meet the basic needs of a traveller. The school report says "could do better"

Disappointing stay
Nothing like the pictures. The spa areas were messy and unkempt (changing room floor covered in hair). The hallways and our room were extremely dated and in need of a makeover. The room smelt damp and there was no fan in the bathroom. Would definitely not call this a spa hotel. Felt disappointed and underwhelmed. The receptionist who checked us in was very nice and welcoming. Breakfast was lovely and made with with good quality ingredients.

Had a terrible experience and would NOT recommend. despite having a confirmed booking, i got there in the middle of the night to be told someone marked my reservation as for the day after and there are no rooms available. then i was told, wait, there is a room, and was given the key; I get to the room, try the key and a man opens the door! at 2am! Then the receptionist finally tells me they have another room that is marked as out of service because it needs maintenance, as it is damp and smelly but i can stay there until the morning. The place is in the middle of nowhere, i was told that if i want. a refund i ned to come back in the morning...that would have been a half hr drive at least each way, for a mistake that is not mine.... Following day, another receptionist apologises for the experience and says he would speak to his manager to get a refund approved. A few hours later i get an email saying the room i stayed in was fine and that no refund will be issues. I call the hotel frustrated and the manager (?) shouts at me! it has simply been horrible.....PLUS the steam room is decommissioned for good, so yet another piece of misleading information. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

The hotel is good for some one who interested in golf sport. The spa fully booked when I reached because I must book in advance if I want any kind of services. I was shocked by the hotel's policy, which forces the tourist after he paid the full amount to them to share his visa information in order to avoid the damages that they assume from the visitor in their minds and their refusal to take a cash as a guarantee.

So glad we were moved from room 101. Really nice evening meal. Restaurant area nice overlooking the golf course. Enjoyed our swim in the morning and the bed was comfy.

There was nothing to dislike, the property was very clean and all staff were friendly, polite and helpful. The food was also lovely as well as the surrounding area. We would definitely go back and would recommend to family and friends.

A very nice stay.
A very pleasant stay the setting in the middle of a golf course means you are surrounded by countryside and away from the roads. We had a evening meal which was excellent and plenty of it. I can imagine it will be busy at weekends but certainly the 2 nights we stayed it was ok so there was plenty of parking. A plus for us was we didn't see any dogs in the hotel.

Great location, shame about the bed!
The hotel is in a beautiful location, very peaceful. It is well kept, clean and staff are very friendly. Our room overlooked the golf course which was wonderful. I can't comment on restaurants as I didn't eat there but there were several gluten free options for dinner. I haven't given 5 stars as there were a couple of bugs on the carpet (loads of condensation in the windows and streaming down into the carpet). The 2 single mattresses were put together for the double but unfortunately one of them was very worn and felt like I was going to fall off the edge. I have a chronic back disability and chose the hotel for the Hypnos mattress. Sadly on this occasion it failed to deliver on its promise and I had a lot of back pain. I informed reception on check out, hopefully housekeeping will sort.

Fabulous time
Had a fabulous one night stay here with a friend. Unfortunately we had one unwelcoming waiter at dinner but all other staff and waiters/bar were fantastic. They made our evening and we had such a good laugh meeting with guests at the hotel. The spa was fantastic although we struggled to get towels/robes. The room was very cold but clean, tidy and perfect for our use. Dinner and breakfast was outstanding! Although a few little hiccups (to be expected anywhere on a bust Saturday) i would definitely book again.
